Puerto Alto Hostel

Puerto Alto is a cultural project situated within the surreal glaciers of Sierra Nevada and the Caribbean Sea. The project has been ongoing for the last 7 years.
We offer the most spectacular view, solar plant light, Wifi, large social area, space for bonfires and sky pool to the Caribbean. The area has a unique natural wealth of flora and fauna. There are numerous rivers, waterfalls, and beaches around us.

- various spaces to practice Yoga
- ecological walks with local neighbours to coffee and cocoa farms, rivers, streams and waterfalls and views to snow-capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada

- DJs and musicians at the site since we are well connected to Berlin's and Bogota's music scene. Come and enjoy the intercultural 4 days festival we are organising every February.

We offer accommodation in hammocks, shared dormitories or private huts, dormitories for groups or families, all fully equipped with pillow, blanket, power outlet, locker and mosquito net, natural showers with views of the Sierra Nevada and the Caribbean Sea.

The entrance of our port is located on the trunk road of the Caribbean, connecting Santa Marta – Palomino at km 47, lasting:
1,5 hrs to Santa Marta,
30 mins to Palomino,
20 mins to Tayrona National Park by bus or bike and
20 mins to the nearest beach by foot.

How to get here?
If you are in Santa Marta, you can take a bus at the public market – Via Buritaca/ Palomino. You must get off at km 47 before reaching the village Buritaca. At the entrance you will find a boat on an arch with the logo of Puerto Alto. From that point you walk approximately 15 – 20 minutes steep uphill.
The Puerto Alto ecological trail is quite steep and can be very demanding depending on the amount of luggage and physique. The neighbour at the entrance from the road (red house/shop) offers motorcycle service for people or luggage and most times horseback or mule transport that costs 12.000 COP per person.

3 days before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.
