Our Budget friendly Hostel is perfectly located in the heart of Cairns Esplanade. Within only a few steps you can be at some of Cairns City’s favourite places including the Lagoon pool, waterfront, marina, cafes, bars and much more.
“THE ESPY “Hostel is well known for its Quiet, chilled, and relaxed vibe with many of our guests labeling it a home away from home.
We offer excellent weekly long-term rates for working backpackers who wish to be able to walk to work and have a quiet homely place to rest at the end of the day.
While we do encourage a social beverage by the pool on a hot summer day, we also have a Strict NO noise and NO alcohol policy after 10pm. So, for those who love a good party into the night will have to head out and enjoy all the bustling bars and night clubs Cairns have to offer and remember to sneak back home quietly😉
We not only offer dorm stays but have newly renovated private rooms available at great affordable prices. Please note our dorm stays are for under 35’s only but don’t let that deter you, we have all ages join us here and have many private rooms available for us to welcome you too.
Come hang by the pool, cook a meal amongst friends in our fully equipped kitchen, chill out in our lounge area and join us for our occasional pop-up social events.
Please note we are a fully SELF check in hostel, but our friendly staff are always happy to help and are only a phone call away.

Check-In an Check-Out were really easy. Everyone was friendly, the beds and baths seemed clean and the location is just the best you can find, directly at the beachpool and the really nice promenade.
Unfortunately the room was pretty messy, a lot of stuff lying around, probably from recent guests. The lockers were all occupied. The Hostel itself is not that pretty, it‘s built-in between other houses with basically no natural light. The kitchen was a mess with so much food standing around.

I stayed in a double room with an en-suite by myself as a solo traveller and it was lovely inside. However, I was maybe 3 rooms down from the kitchen/communal area and the noise levels throughout the entire night were ridiculous. 10pm curfew is not enforced due to no staff in the hostel. Loud conversations, banging of kitchen press doors, and banging of crockery and cutlery at all hours of the night meant waking up multiple times during the night even with earplugs.

For the money, this was good value. ( I had a private room with ensuite)) It is in a super handy and attractive location. The place had a really nice friendly vibe, with people from all over the world. Although the outlook from my room was a brick wall, and the decore was a bit meh, the room was comfy and clean.
The staff were friendly and helpful. There were two locked doors to go through to the accomodation . I had a bicycle with me and I could lock it beneath the internal stairs.
