Rana Roja Lodge

We were in one of the rooms in the main building. Toilet seat was completely broken, curtains didn’t cover the entire window and were really old, bathroom shelf was falling off the wall. The entire room needed a coat of fresh paint. It needs a large scale makeover.

No hot water on The Room. No wifi anywhere but The restaurant. Toilets doesn’t work most if The time. Furniture is Old and not maintained. One of our beds broke during our stay so we had to move to another room. Still problems with toilet although different type of problem, second room had hot water though. The neighboor hotel has a nice pool you Can use and The food is good but often not enough for everyone and Price is not very cheap. No apoligies or anything, so we wouldn’t recommend it.

Rana Roja Lodge is an amazing and special place, hidden in the jungle where you can see and hear so much wildlife! The staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet tasty (classic Costa Rican) and the rooms decent. You will need to take a taxi boat to access Tortuguero village but it is not inconvenient at all. First of all it is quite nice to escape the town center, but also the staff can call one and they come in five minutes (and the quick boat ride on the canal is always cool).
