Looming Hostel is one of the first and only environmentally friendly hostels in Estonia, Tartu!
We are dedicated to green and eco-living; bohemian decorating style and aim to minimize our operations impact on the environment. We hold in high regard our commitment to reusing, recycling, renovating and reducing our ecological footprint.
We implement the following environmental principles:
Most of our furniture is from second hand shops, reused or made from recycled materials;
We use resources effectively and economically;
We prefer natural and environmentally friendly materials;
All cleansers we use have eco or nature-friendly label or we use soda and vinegar;
We produce as little trash as we can. We sort the generated waste into household waste, packaging, paper and cardboard, bottles and biowaste;
We train our employees to be environmentally conscious and let them apply their knowledge on a daily basis;
We also encourage our guests to act responsibly towards the environment and share their knowledge with us and other guests.
Our guestrooms are located on the attic floor of an old art noveau building completed in the year 1910. The building is also home to Kastani apartments and children's daycare center. We share inner yard with Tartu Yoga Center. In the nearby community center, Aparaaditehas, there are art exhibitions, different restaurants, a bakery, little shops and several other businesses.
Our hostel has a kitchen for self-catering, with all the necessary equipment, free WiFi, comfy living room area for relaxing, books and games and a cozy roof terrace.

i had a really weird experience here with a staff member walking into my room at 10:30 asking why i hadn't packed yet so they could clean the room (checkout wasn't for half an hour!) and also waiting outside the shower for me so they could clean it which made me feel a little uncomfortable. i thought the hostel was nice other than that. good facilities and good location.

I’ve stayed in this hostel few times over the years and as other have previously mentioned the location is great, place is cozy, and clean and staff has been great every time. But that’s all during high season. I want to rate this time 0/10 if possible
I’ve noticed that during offseason this place turns into a homeless shelter and I really mean it. This time I shared this lovely establishment with people you would usually cross road to other side of the street if they came towards you during daytime . I shared room with 2 such guys and unlike homeless shelter the hostel can’t demand that residents shower…
During night I was really scared I’m gonna be robbed or something and that’s the main problem. Me as a guy I didn’t feel safe in a hostel and I in many hostels in my life . And there’s no one from the staff staying overnight there which also makes me concerned
Overall I kinda get that money doesn’t smell as they say (those guys probably did though ) but hostel should show up some diligence, and maybe filter out the complete homeless people from staying , I mean we have actual shelters and social housing for them. And also hostel should put more pressure on security, more lockable drawers and cupboards should be per every resident
