A lochside lodge, sitting on the northern shore of Loch Gairloch, with magnificent sea and mountain views and easy access to fantastic sandy beaches.
Gairloch Sands Youth Hostel is a great base for exploring the North West Highlands, offering guests a range of comfortable private and shared rooms. None of the rooms are en-suite but ample shower and washroom facilities are available.
Guests can opt for a ‘Wee Breakfast’ of cereal, Scottish yogurt, fresh fruit, tea and coffee, or take advantage of the recently refurbished and well-equipped self-catering kitchen and dining room. The hostel is licensed so you can enjoy local beers, malt whisky or a glass of wine while relaxing in the cosy lounge with panoramic views over Gairloch, the Torridon hills, the Isle of Skye and the Outer Hebrides (on a good day)!
WiFi is free for all guests and other facilities include lockers, a laundry and a small drying room. Basic provisions, confectionery and soft drinks are available to purchase at reception and the nearest shop is only a fifteen minute walk away. The hostel has onsite parking facilities for up to 13 cars.
Gairloch Sands is a dog-friendly hostel. If you would like to book a room with your dog into the hostel, please phone the hostel direct to check availability of a dog friendly room. There is an additional charge of £7.50 per night for your dog when staying in our hostels.
The hostel is also available for exclusive private rental.

This must be the best located hostel in Scotland! We stayed for 2 nights, each of us in separate dorms. We booked very last minute.
I love the location, literally a skip and a hip from the beach. The lounge looks out onto the sea. It's so tranquil. The furniture is very tasteful for a hostel. Loved it!
The dorm rooms were comfortable and clean. The bathroom facilities were clean and adequate.
Kitchen facilities also great.
Great selection of drinks at reception. Staff friendly too!

I recently stayed at this hostel and was thoroughly impressed by the impeccable facilities. The fully equipped kitchen was a standout feature, allowing for convenient meal preparation. The lounge had a fantastic ambiance, creating a welcoming and sociable atmosphere. The cleanliness and tidiness of the hostel were exceptional, making for a comfortable stay. The beds were cozy and provided a good night's sleep. Overall, I highly recommend this hostel!
