I'm not someone who enjoys writing bad reviews but this had to be said. Let me first acknowledge the ease at which I was issued a refund, for that I am very grateful. Secondly, this is not a clean place. There was rodent droppings all over the bed and the mosquito ner was old and filthy. The toilets were gross and seems like a party hostel. Certainly didn't line up with what I believed to be the values of auroville.

The manager, Yuvan is prompt and helpful. He'll offer the best recommendations and is also good company to hang out with. The hostel is right next to the Matri Mandir and is close to all the places and cafes you'd like to visit. The highlight was chilling in the hammock with their resident cat Cooper sleeping on me. It's a must stay for backpackers.
