I don’t know what went wrong, but the hostel did not receive our bookings…. Fortunately they had exactly 2 bed vacancies for us. But different rooms. Which is fine and appreciated. Clearly they didn’t receive our booking as our email had no response.

Then, it’s impossible to get into reception without knowing the door code, which you only get given at the front desk after check in. good location for that price. hostel was clean but very basic equipped. staff was quite rude, didn't feel welcome there at all and was happy to switch to another hostel in almaty after a few days.
