WHAT’S BAREFOOT’S VIBE?
Barefoot is made for SOLO travelers who want to make LIFELONG friends and dive into FUN activities with us! If you're all about meeting new people and soaking up the social atmosphere, you're in the right place.
To keep that friendly and inclusive vibe, we only accept solo travelers or pairs (maximum 2 people). Groups of friends, unfortunately, can’t be accommodated with us, as we’ve found it makes it harder for solo guests to bond with them. Booking multiple reservations to bypass this rule isn’t allowed.
WHO MIGHT NOT LOVE IT HERE? ⚠️
🚫 Remote workers — our internet isn’t most likely up for the challenge
🤫 Quiet-time seekers — this place buzzes with social energy and spontaneous chats - we’re all about connection and community!
🐶 Not into dogs? — we love our 2 hostel dogs (see the pictures). If you’re not a fan or feel uneasy around them, this might not be your vibe.
We don’t want to see you disappointed at our hostel, because there are many amazing alternatives around what might suits you better 💛
THE HOSTEL
Barefoot Backpackers Hostel, Ahangama Beach is like no other in Ahangama. We are a very social hostel that focusses on bringing backpackers together. We are surrounded by lush and a very serene garden. We are a cozy hostel near Ahangama Beach in Sri Lanka (4 min walk)! Whether you're hitting the waves or taking it easy, we've got your back. And just a short stroll away lies the center of Ahangama (3 min walk), where you can soak up the sun and enjoy sunset drinks with friends! Time to get excited!

Kick off your day with a sunrise surf that would make Aquaman jealous, then swing by for a breakfast that's so good, it'll have you doing a happy dance. Next up, it's time to lounge in our garden paradise on beanbags so cushy, you'll forget what stress even feels like. And when the sun gets a little too friendly, run to the outside showers or play a little beachvolleybal game at our own field! After a day of beach antics and belly laughs, we've got a lineup of evening activities that'll have you giggling till your sides ache.

Throughout the high season, we organize all kinds of activities in our common area and massive garden! Get ready for social dinners, beachvolleybal tournaments and so much more! HOSTEL INFORMATION

I) check in: from 14:00 – 20:00
II) check out: until 08:00 - 11:00
III) quiet hours: from 23:00 -07:00
IV) airconditioning times: from 18:00 - 11:00
V) our cancellation policy: 2 day minimum (48 hours) before arrival date (not check-in time)
VI) no open kitchen: at our cozy hostel, our kitchen is like a top-secret club - no peeking allowed! Yep, there is NO open kitchen here, folks. You can order your caffeine shot and brekkie delights straight from our reception
VII) no curtains at the beds: we don’t have curtains at the beds: At our hostel, we've taken the liberty to skip the curtains in favor of fostering a lively social scene. But rest assured, your comfort and enjoyment are still our top priorities
VIII) we are empowering the local community: we love partnering up with our awesome local community! Our team members (10) are all local people from the area. Now, they might not have mingled that much with globetrotters before, that's what makes life interesting, right? So, if you find yourself stranded with a language barrier, they’re not unfriendly, don’t get angry, it’s unfortunately just a language limbo. Let's tackle it together with a big smile and some good vibes. We're all in this adventure called communication
