HARUYA Higashiyama

I traveled around a lot on my trip and stayed in many places across Japan and I think this was my least favorite. It is a nice idea to stay somewhere so old, especially in Kyoto however the problem is that this place is really old. The walls are very thin and we were placed in a room next to the entrance/walkway so someone would wake us up going out early and someone would wake us up coming in late. Location is great. Quiet and beds are comfortable. Everyone shares one shower and two toilets. Might be an issue for some. Overall it’s a decent place for its price, but under my mattress I found that is never clean as I noticed a lot of debris and hair …. Grossed me out

Fine, but wouldn't recommend it. Bathroom is a small stall outside, building is very creaky, and no security in the building. Did not see a single staff person in our 4 nights there.
