Good hostel, helpful staff. La Serena is a nice town, and there is good access from the hostel to the interesting areas. Quite a walk from the beach, but it wasn't good weather anyway.

Decent choice from La Serena.. staff are helpful and friendly, they have a great rooftop terrace with hammocks, nice kitchen and communal dining area outside.. only problem is, did hear about someone getting robbed in one of the dorms and La Serena itself is horrible - only stayed here for less than 24 hours passing from Valparaiso to San Pedro.

Contrary to what the hostel advertises, it is NOT a 20 minute walk between the hostel and the beach. It is more like 45 minutes.

When I first arrived at 7am I was greeted my a unhelpful man at reception. After waiting until around 1pm Wendy was very helpful in checking me in and offering helpful advice. Overall I liked the breakfast and the kitchen.

This hostel definitely has room for growth. The place is falling apart, and It would probably be helpful if they had a cleaning lady on the staff to assist with issues such as restocking (toilet paper, hot water 4 coffee/tea in the morning, etc). The person who was running reception & security, also had to take care of the bathrooms/kitchen, which seemed to be a challenging task for the person. Plus, there was sporadic hot water & the handle for the shower Broke while bathing (wouldn't turn off)

Only had one night here as we were just passing through. Thought it was really charming and homely and the staff were friendly. Especially loved the terrace that overlooked all of La Serena. Only down side was total lack of sleep due to noise and socializing happening in the communal area (right outside our room!) until the early hours of the morning, even though there was a sign saying quiet time after 12!

Great hostel in a nice location. The rooms are spacious with big lockers, although ones at the front can be a bit noisy and get smells from the fish market. The breakfast was lovely - bread, tea/coffee, jam, fruit and we had no problems with a bread shortage.

Up the hill ca. 10-15 minutes walking from the bus-terminal. No problem with a backpack. Not close to the beach but in the center and really close to supermercados and food. Nice rooms and a great atmosphere. Try to get "Puta Madre"... The perfect room for a perfect trip to La Serena.

The hostel was definitely not as good as other comments made us believe. Our room was next to the lobby of the hostel, so we heard everyone coming in and out of the hostel all night, plus people walking by on the street. The location is quite near the big tourist market, but about 30 minute walking from the beach. 2 terraces gave the hostel some character, but if you are looking for a quiet night, this is not the place.

The doorbell needs to answered quicker by staff at night - people were outside our room for 30mins at 3am ringing the doorbell before a member of staff came.

Overall nice hostel...the staff is awesome and usually hangs around even when theyre not working which is nice...beds are comfy (stay on a bottom bunk if you can), bathrooms clean, and really nice outside spaces to hang out in...some interesting characters staying there, but overall the perfect place to hook up with other travelers going north...would, and probably will, stay there again.
