America del Sur hostel is located up the hill from the main street, a little further away from the main street than other hostels but with a beautiful view (especially at sunset) over the lakes and mountains. There was always multiple staff members available to help and various tours and bus transfers were easily booked at reception. They hold an all you can eat BBQ each night for 90 pesos which was fantastic - nice to have some nutritious cooked vegetables after backpacking for sometime!

Disappointed that we weren't told about the 100 peso price increase to the room when we requested to stay additional nights due to illness. Only found out when checking out. Was told that it was because of limited availability, but when I requested the extra nights I was told the rooms were mostly empty. Felt a little cheated. Also, small single sheets are an inadequate substitute for fitted sheets. Kept coming off in the night. And the kitchen needs more pots and utensils. Staff were great.

The hostel and the staff are really great. The rooms are comfortable and tidy. The only minor thing is the kitchen, it.is almost too grose to cook.

The staff helped book *all* our tours, and made our stay in El Calafate absolutely amazing. Cannot recommend this hostel enough!

Great hostel if you want a bit of a break from speaking Spanish, a half decent bar and some nice people to chat to. It's not that far from town, but a bit of a pain as the town is really nice. Save yourself their fairly steep commission and book buses to Perito Moreno etc at the bus station - you have to queue up there anyway to pick up the ticket they reserve for you.

It was a nice stay and a good location not to far from the bus station. The only minor point was the WIFI was not reaching into the outer rooms.

OK this is a nice big new hostel that has been built out in the newer North Eastern part of El Calafate. This is great because of there is plenty of space for the newer construction but it comes at the cost of being slightly further from the town center than some of the more established hostels such as Hosteria Patagonia. It is a solid 10 minute walk from the town center and is on dirt roads. However you are welcomed to an amazing ski-resort style. Beds comfy, showers hot with pressure! Awesome.

The staff here are AMAZING. SO helpful beyond belief. We stayed in both a dorm one night and a private double another. The private double was GREAT. With separate shower & toilet rooms. Beautiful views, clean everything. The dorm was pretty standard, with the separate bathroom & toilet (ensuite). The common room is fabulous, with big windows & a second floor attic type sitting area. My friend had to stay an extranight and since they didnt have space, they let him stay in the attic living room!!

Nice place but a few improvments would make it a better place. It´s not a party hostel so if you want some rest after a day of hiking this is the right place. The staff helps you a lot with the tours and others things.

To add to my previous comment - this hotels location is a bit of a walk from the center of town so NOT the most convenient but does allow for some incredible views!

Great hostel, just like the one in Buenos Aires. Really comfortable beds and just a short walk from the town centre. The only down side is that the walls are thin and you can pretty much hear everyone walking and talking outside your room. No so much of a drag though as many people were in bed early to get up for excursions the next day.

The rooms are very nice and clean, as the bathroom. It's a bit far from downtown but that is compensated by the great views and the relaxed atmosphere. Good to meet people. Staff very nice and helpful. I recomend staying here.
