To add to my previous comment - this hotels location is a bit of a walk from the center of town so NOT the most convenient but does allow for some incredible views!
Nice place but a few improvments would make it a better place. It´s not a party hostel so if you want some rest after a day of hiking this is the right place. The staff helps you a lot with the tours and others things.
Staff was really friendly and helpful. They have booked tours and bus tickets for me. The beds are comfortable and the common area is really nice. I really enjoyed my stay.
Great hostel, just like the one in Buenos Aires. Really comfortable beds and just a short walk from the town centre. The only down side is that the walls are thin and you can pretty much hear everyone walking and talking outside your room. No so much of a drag though as many people were in bed early to get up for excursions the next day.
Everything was good except for the location on the edge of town
We have stayed there few days and really enjoyed it the palce is nice, good location, fab breakfast and most of all amazing staff. They made our stay so special ....loved it!!!
Excellent hostel with a great view on the lake. A small 5min footwalk away from the centre. Toilets and showers in the rooms (nice) Staff was great and helpful. Will come back.
Fantastic place to stay if you are looking for a quiet chilled out stay. A good place to meet like minded travellers. All the staff are very helpful and very friendly. Breakfast was great. Would def stay again
Great Hostel, personally however I do prefer bathrooms outside the dorm.
The rooms are very nice and clean, as the bathroom. It's a bit far from downtown but that is compensated by the great views and the relaxed atmosphere. Good to meet people. Staff very nice and helpful. I recomend staying here.
This hostel is wonderful. Although it is situated a 5-10 minute walk from town, the view from the common area is to die for. The rooms are cute and clean and everyone has their own bathroom. The staff are really attentive and I really like the way how they sit you down and speak to you when you get there. They can help with all your bookings. The breakfast is really good as well. Be sure to order some red wine otherwise known as ´Happy Penguins´

I can't recommend America del Sur enough. It was our home base for 6 days and every time we came back from trekking I knew there would be friendly staff, a spotless room, and a hot shower. We had a private room that felt like a lodge, not a hostel. The staff was extremely helpful when we had questions. They didn't have a chef at the time so we didn't get to try their BBQ, but the kitchen is well equipped and the grocery store is a short walk away.
A strength of this place was the awesome staff, which were so helpful for advice!
i loved it there.. the staff are really friendly and really care about you and your trip..
A five star hostel! Great view of the lake, common area on two floors, private bathroom in each bedroom, large breakfast, comfortable bed.
Awesome hostel and very helpful staff with great views
There is a clear disconnect between the staff and the customers. Some of the staff are friendly and helpful, unfortunately the few rude and obnoxious ones spoil the atmosphere for everyone else. They greatly need to improver their customer service.
Good hostel, a bit pricy, as everything down there in El Calafate. Great staff who introduce you in everything you can do in and around the town!
The place is a little out from center but the view is amazing, there are big windows from where you can see the lake's view...and a common area where is really easy to meet people and get new friends, staff is nice and friendly, breakfast big and with so many things.. the only thing I didn't like was the kitchen, too small and with a broken fridge.
