nice hostel, clean. the staff is also very nice. There is a locker I can use. few concerns: the top bunkbed does not have any railing. so, if you fall down, eghhhhh. the breakfast is too simple, just 1 piece of bread and coffee/tea.
An excellent hostel. A well stocked kitchen, great showers and comfy beds. Very helpful staff and good security. The cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in!!
The owner is really nice, but I only ever heard him speak Spanish. The atmosphere was a bit lacking- there's not a good, comfortable place to hang out really. Outside are some chairs, but it's poorly lit and downstairs there's a lounge area with one couch and the "den" smells strongly of incense. The hostel is central enough to La Serena, but a ways to walk to the beach. It could be cleaner, too, but I've seen much worse. The price is fair and it includes breakfast.
Overall the hostel was good! Nice and warm showers, clean beds, small kitchen, breakfast was okay. Good hostel if you travel with friends, nothing for someone travelling alone.
Arrived late at night only stayed here for one night. Gentleman was nice when checked us in, don't think he spoke much English! Bedrooms were nice and clean, shower rooms average but did have hot water. We were late up and breakfast should have finished but they still gave us coffee and bread which was nice of them!
Very clean and well located hostel but watch out for the cleaner!
My showers always ended in cold water. First night i slept in a room next to the common area, which was quite noisy. Second night was a quieter room but since the hostel is nex to a fishmarket u could smell the fish :( . ppl working there are nice though, hostel is very clean and breakfast is good!
Great hostel! Comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and hot showers (probably the best shower we had in SA). The owner was very nice but didn't speak much English. We wanted to visit the Mamalluca observatory and he called them about the tour. Unfortunately the observatory cancelled the tour as the sky was going to be overcast (good that the tell you in advance though!). The kitchen was well equipped and hostel located close to a supermarket. Very good value for money.
We arrived 5 am and woke the owner up. But anyway he allowed to check in and get the room. Staff were friendly.

Nice couple running the hostel, but I suggest it for a more independent traveller, or someone coming in a group with plans already arranged - it seems like a quieter hostel, and La Serena is a less active destination than Santiago or San Pedro, for example.
