very clean hostel - stayed in the seperate apartment where you go outside and upstairs. the building with the reception looked a bit older but i've never been in any of the dorms. excellent, big, and clean washrooms and shower. had big shelves for backpacker sized bags but no lock.

Really liked the stay! Staff is really friendly and helpful and they all talk english (at least the 3 people I met) For the hostel itself, well, it's a normal hostel as you know it. Rooms are clean, bathroom is very clean, kitchen is a little bit small but there are so many cheap shops and restaurants around, that you won't need to cook by yourself anyway. Common room is fine. Big light will be turned off at 11pm, however you can still stay there after. Just keep the noise/skype low.

This is a good hostel very clean and the staff are really helpful. It was quite hard to find when we first arrived in Tokyo but being so close to the metro is great. There's not much socialising going on but we spent most of our time outside the hostel anyway. Minor issue is no cooking facilities so it's harder to save money on food, there is a small kitchen with a fridge though. Definitely recommend this hostel, the dorms are great.

Only got to spend one night here. Rooms were nice and bed was comfy. Located close to the Asakusa line. Decently sized common room. Bathrooms smelled a bit funny. Unfortunately did not get much interaction with the owners or residents because of the short stay.

Clean and secure, but poor kitchen facilities, especially for the number of people staying. Still good value for money. Staff were very friendly when we arrived but didn't really see them after that as the entrance was separate from the reception area.

Pretty decent hostel. Beds were comfortable & clean, but we had no place to sit in room. Main area was nice to mingle, there was a TV, but was painful to always sit on the hard floor. We paid to rent towels & they were SO SMALL & smelled moldy, ick! Kitchen was VERY small, but there were a few dishes, utensils, & micro. Bathrooms & showers were VERY clean, and had clean furry bathmats. Location was decent, staff was nice, helpful, & spoke decent English. Would probably stay here again.

Super-clean ryokanesque hostel on the interesting side of Asakusa (don't stay east of Sumida river, boring!). There is a 10 minute walk to subway though. Free wifi internet, fridge, no curfew, small locker available. Certainly not a "party-hostel", but if you want to rest for a while and wish for a classy experience, Toukaisou is the place. Recommended.

All round I would recommend it, it's very cheap, clean, comfortable and safe and really that's all you need. there's also no lock out time and is about a five min taxi ride from Ueno Station if that.

The hostel has a good, quiet, peaceful vibe, but the walls are a bit thin if some dorks decide to talk all night, which unfortunately happened to us. We loved the location though and would stay again. The staff were excellent in helping us find the place when we were coming in very late at night.

Loved this hostel. My friends were ill the first day we stayed here, thankfully this was the best place to stay at for this, was clean, quiet and comfortable which made it easy for them to recover . Easy walk to Tawaramachi station on the Ginza line. We found this line easily accessible from during our 5 days in Tokyo. Will be back next time I'm in Tokyo.
