Great spot! My wife and I had an exceptional stay at Ashanti lodge and we often prefer to tent camp over staying at hostels due to cleanliness issues. This place was great!

Ashanti is a beautiful place to stay. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, service at the bar was great, rooms were clean and comfortable (best bed I've ever slept in). It was a pleasure staying there.

Decent hostel I suppose in some ways but too much of a party place for me. Plus, the sink in my dorm room was covered with ants when I arrived which was disgusting. Will do for 1 night but longer? NO!

Owner Comment (Show)
Hello Rebecca Thank you for your constructive criticism. I find it very strange that your sink was covered in ants on your arrival as all our rooms are thoroughly cleaned every day - and of course the sinks too! It may have been that someone else in your dorm could have stored some food nearby. Nevertheless, I apologise for that. There may be some rowdy nights in our bar at times, but I am not sure if we could be considered a party place these days. I am sure that each person may have their own interpretation on that though. I regret that you found it only necessary to stay here for one night, but should you find yourself back in Cape Town again one day we would be most happy to welcome you back and treat you to a complimentary stay. Regards Lisa

I love staying at Ashanti Lodge. I have stayed in the dorms, the double room onsite and the double room offsite at the cottage. Each stay has been fabulous and I will keep coming back. The location and view of table mountain in superb and the staff are really helpful and lovely.

It\'s been a pleasure going back to Ashanti, I\'d already stayed there back in 2008. One thing though about the manager: how about saying hello to her guests instead of ignoring them, and it was the same with the other manager three years ago.Very unpleasant.

Hello Georgette This is Lisa, the owner here (and current manager). I know exactly who you are as I saw you talking to Dan a few times and you mentioned that you are going to dinner with Jemaine. I apologise if you found me unpleasant or rude. I generally do try to be pleasant and greet as many people as I can. There may be times that I am focussing on admin on my computer which could possibly have been the case whilst you were there. Either way, I sincerely apologise as in no way do I ever wish to be seen to cause unpleasantness. Regards Lisa

We stayed in one of the "guest-houses" which is just round the corner from the main hostel. It was certainly much quieter, but it also didn't benefit from the same level of security. Our gate and front door was operated by an old fashioned key, and if one of the other guests didn't bother to close these properly (which happened a couple of times whilst we were there) then the property felt quite vulnerable. If the weather was bad, the only place to eat was in your bedroom (sitting on bed!).

Hi Claire I am sorry to hear that you felt unsafe staying in our guest house. I do take cognisance of what you say regarding the front gate though. Although, this is the first time someone has mentioned it to me I think the solution would be to install one of those self-closing spring hinges. We are in the process of refurbing each and every room in the guest houses and are ensuring that each room has s tea station as well as chairs and tables to sit at should the weather not be suitable for outdoor eating. Nevertheless, I hope that you enjoyed your stay in Cape Town and should you return please do visit us again. Regards Lisa

Great Hostel. Rooms were really clean, showers always had hot water and kitchen facilities were great. Only a 10 minute stroll to Long Street. Laundry service available and really reasonably priced especially for those travellers at the end of overland tours! 1 hr free wi-fi if you had laptop or smart phone was a nice extra too.

We stayed in the apartments house around the corner from the lodge. This is a great location and we could access all the facilities at the lodge without having the noise (perhaps) of the 'younger set'. Pool was excellent as was the bar, grounds and internet use. Would highly recommend.

I only stayed 1 night, I had booked a twin room and when I arrived on my own they only charged me a single rate. I was very grateful and impressed. Really nice staff and great to have individual safes in the rooms.

Really enjoyed my stay there. The staff was very friendly and helpfully, I would defenetly come back. just the rooms were a bit too hot during the night and it was hard to get some fresh air, because of the small windows, but it was too hot nearly everywhere in ct at this time.

I can highly recoment your hostel. The only thing is that the music in the bar is very loud to sleep at night and it is on until midnight.
