The BIG is a newly renovated Luxury Backpackers in Green Point, Cape Town and is the first of its kind. THE BIG offers its guests the best of two worlds – the style, service and cleanliness of a guest house/hotel, with the amazing social aspect of a hostel at competitive rates. Everyone that leaves THE BIG is sad to go.

THE BIG is all about creating a space that acts as a ‘home away from home’. All of our rooms have been newly renovated & styled by fabulous interior decorators. They all have bathrooms en suite, are serviced daily with clean towels and linen provided. Please note the guesthouse has many rooms which afre all unique in sizes, style and shapes, the pictures provided online are one example of a room.

THE BIG also offers many communal areas to socialise or just hang out in. Our dining room is open and spacious and leads into a fully equipped kitchen for the guests to make use of. We have a TV/chill out room as well as a book swap/library area. We give our guests the chance to experience something typically South African – a good old fashioned braai BBQ regularly. Guests can also relax at the sparkling pool.

We provide our guests with free high speed fiber WIFI, at no extra cost and a inverter to make sure the WIFI operates during load shedding. Every morning a delicious breakfast is served (again, at no extra cost), and guests sit around our spacious dining area where they get to know one another in a relaxed, happy, sociable environment. We spend time informing our guests of the vast selection of awesome activities and tours in and around Cape Town.

Situated in a tranquil street, nestling below Signal Hill, The BIG In Green Point is within a 10 minute walk of the vibrant Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Green Point Stadium, local shops, restaurants, clubs and bars as well as a gym and fitness center. Also within easy reach are beaches, promenades, the Mother City's Central Business District and convenient transport to the city bowl as well as Table Mountain, museums and galleries.

Superb breakfast.From May choose a room with heating. heated blankets From are for bed time but chilling out in room is not possible. oil or fan heaters should be provided. Shops near by but always told to get a taxi from dusk. its 10 mins. In May the pool is not cleaned and it is not heated. Rooms need to be warmer from May.

Cape Town’s airport receives flights from all around the world and it’s the main way of getting to the city. Renting a car is the best option for getting around the city, especially if you are planning to explore further, visiting the vineyards and beaches, or even an amazing South African road trip. Taxis are not that cheap and the public transport is affordable but not widely accessible. Many of the best hostels in Cape Town offer bus tours and various exploring options, which doubles up as a great way to meet your fellow travellers. Ask your hostel staff for the easiest way to get to places and they will be glad to help!
