The double room with ensuite bathroom was very small. It was hard to move around the bed! For the price, it might be cheaper for some people to stay at a hotel for that little of space.

It's great being so close to the station and is near a couple of important sights, but bear in mind that at night time there's not much going on around the hostel and you'll have to travel up the subway to get so bars etc, although the subway is really close by. The bar next door is really friendly though, and a good place to meet people staying there.

The staff was VERY helpful, the place was spacious, and the atmosphere was fun and friendly. Really liked the Zen Cafe, the short distance to the JR station and the shops, and the hostel can sell you a bus pass--very convenient!

We had a great stay at K's in Kyoto. Great place, good location, very clean and the staff were very helpful. We had a room next door to a couple with very small children which was an issue with noise, but other than that we had a wonderful stay.

K's House was very welcoming and friendly and although there is little space in he bunk room, the lovely communal spaces more than make up for this.

Since I unfortunately just stayed for one night, I cannot give any detailed comments or opinions. Nevertheless, I was highly impressed by the amazing atmosphere, the convenient and easy way to stay at your hostel and the very kind staff. I especially liked the free coffee and tea! ;-)

The place was SUPER clean and extremely well-maintained as if it was opened just yesterday. The beds were so comfy, its the first time ever in my 7 (on and off) years of using hostels that I didn't want to leave!! The lockers in the bed rooms were huge. There were nice small touches e.g. a pull switch on the main dorm light so no-one had to leave their beds to switch it off, box of tissues in the dorm, towels in the bathroom for drying hands and wet surfaces + hand soap and a hairdryer.

There was too little space on the floor for 4 futons while the closet could not be accessed. Our little son decided to sleep IN the (opened) closet saving space on the floor!

The best place I've been in Japan ! Very clean, quiet, it's easy to live there ! Guests were all so nice (oh maybe my last day a couple of my roomates were so annoying but this is the risk when you sleep in a dorm). If I have to go back somewhere in Kyoto it will be Backpackers again ! Possibility to leave your luggages until the end of the day if you only leave the city by night. Near the kyoto station and all buses and you can rent a bike. They also have a bar which looked nice.
