I'm a single female travelling alone and beaches put me in a room with 7 men. I don't think thats safe or fair. They don't let you drink alcohol in your rooms and in the 2 nights I was there staff members walked into the room unannouced to do a random alcohol check. The carpet in the room is also DISGUSTING. I would definetly NOT reccommend this hostel to anyone, there are better ones like Magnums or YHA right next door. Overall, this is a pretty good hostel, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms are fairly spacious too, which is good! Worst hostel I've stayed in. Unhelpful and incompetent staff (had to queue 3 times for 15 mins before being able to check in), dorms were full of hair, lights weren't working (nor being fixed) and hot water was questionable to the point of having to 'shelter' people from other rooms. I'd seriously advice against staying here.Worst hostel I've stayed in. the staff werent overly friendly at reception. Bar staff were nice and there was a variety of food there. The free breakfast was good, however it was a fight for a fork/spoon at any time. It was all in all a good place too stay, but some of the staff memberes was a bit rued. In the middle of Airlie though, that's good =D If you like too party, this is the place since the bar at Beaches is the biggest bar in all of Airlie =P Straight across from the lagoon and only 7 min walk to Able port Marina. If you're takink ypou're diviners certificate, do it at Whitsunday dive adventure!! They're awsome!! Mike and Katrina. I really enjoyed staying at Beaches! The location couldn't be better, the bar was really fun, and everyone there was really chill and fun. The bathrooms could get a little grimey, but they were cleaned every day and the rooms themselves were super clean. Clean bedding and the rooms had their own sinks, tvs, and fridges.
