Enjoyed my time here. The courtyard is a plus, somewhere to chill outdoors and share a bottle of Mescal... etc.

My stay here was amazing. Everything from the service to the people I met. All around fun. The beach is less than a minute away and the nightlife is incredible. Shout out to Gama for showing everyone around and being an awesome host.

Good hostel and cool stuff. Very clean and with perfect location , few meters from main street. Beach is also few meters away. We had good room with ensuite facilities, cleaning every day and lockers free of charge. Stuff is really nice and breakfast is ok.

Don't trust Gama. He's a theif. Stayed in one of the private cabanas, which was very nice and clean. The location couldn't be better, right next to the ocean and a short walk to 5th ave but far enough that we could sleep at night. At first I was very pleased with the hostel, but that changed on the last night when Gama, the manager who everyone raves about, stole M$600 from my room. It is a bit unnerving when the guy who controls all the keys to the place has no problem robbing customers.

It is a very comfortable hostel located just a few steps from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the staff is excellent and the atmosphere is very friendly.

Popul Vuh's location could literally not get any better! Steps from the beach, with a chill common area, I met some very cool people from around the globe. Additionally, Gama showed us an amazing time at night and we partied the night away! Playa is a must if you're in the region and Popul Vuh doesn't lack for of your needs.

The hostel could not be better located, it is steps to the beach, but what makes Popol Vuh special is the atmosphere that develops as you arrive. The owner is not much of a host but his lack of people's person is highly fixed by the gentleness of the general manager, his name is Gama and he is truly the soul of the place and the catalyst between Playa and the travelers that choose to stay at his place. 5 stars!' l'll definately stay there again and again, as I left a life long friend.

Good location, good people, good atmosphere.. Can be a little noisy up to midnight..but if you are looking for a quiet vacation, this is not the place..it is a youth hostel with young and vibrant travellers.

I love this place. I can't believe you can chill in a hammock among the palm trees and walk 20 seconds to get to one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere, all for $20/night. It is very rustic and natural; has a campsite feel. It is nestled behind some restaurants and really hard to find, but it is right in the heart of the tourist area. Start at the sandy beach at the end of 2 Sur (street) walk 1/4 block and turn right into the long dirt driveway. The owners are very kind and friendly.

It was a great hostel to stay! The staff and especially Gama makes you feel at home immediately! Good place to meet a lot of great people. Not a big party hostel, but definitely a place were you can party if you want!

Ask for a dude that works there called Gamma. He is very helpful and will let you know the run down on everything. 5min walk from the ado bus station. Highly recommended if you actually want to sleep. If your up for a party hostel then this is not for you. Very cheap to. Enjoy!

This place was pretty darned perfect for me and my two guy friends. They overbooked a room, so we ended up in a swanky 3 person room for the same price as the dorms. They took care of us and were super cool. Gama took us out both nights to local clubs and was immediately a friend we could count on. Stay at this place if you're looking to meet good people, but not trying to RAGE or get drunk and makeout with German supermodels in the rooftop pool (there isn't one). 15 seconds from the beach!

Location, locatio, location....virtually footsteps away from a beautiful beach. not to far from all the big nightclubs without getting all the noise from them. it 's a quiet place and very well located. if you have a room including breakfast, don't expect a big elaborate one ( 2 eggs in a blank plate). the rooms are moisty and smell a bit, the sheets aren't the cleanest ones and the showers need a good overhaul. if you are not to picky on cleaniness, this could be a lot of fun near the beach.

My sole purpose was to eat, shower and sleep. The staff went across the street, waiter came over, toke my order, brought me enchiladas, limeade and bottled water. The room was amazingly clean, bed suitable and location quiet. I have done a lot of traveling alone and stayed at a lot of hostels. I have to say this one was very spartan. Although the room was large it contained only two beds – should have had lounge chair and small table with lamp & chair.

You can't beat the location! It's great! Close to everything you need. The staff was friendly (when you could find them) and the room was cleaned everyday. The only drawbacks were if you're in the dorm there is no breakfast, the shower leaked into the rest of the bathroom and during my stay the toilet handle broke (it wasn't the end of the world as there are other toilets to use and it eventually got fixed- it was just inconvenient). That said, I highly recommend this place! Great value!!!

We had a double room. Could be nice with a door between the bathroom and bedroom :-)

Gama is absolutely amazing! As a solo female traveler he made me feel safe and also showed me the great places to go in town- he makes this Hostel what it is. Rooms are decent - I stayed in private and in the Dorm- both were clean and the maid was great at making sure the Private room was well stocked with towels and other needs that typically only come with a hotel. The restaurant accross the street is so-so, a little over-priced if you ask me- $65 pesos for Chips and Guac! really??
