run by Gama fantastic bloke, took us out on our only night there, then organised a van to take us down to tulum, stopping along the way to swim in cenotes and with the turtles then to seclusded tulum beaches before droppingus at the door of our new hostel, fantastic

Gamma, behind the desk, was very friendly and always available to help out with anything you need. Very friendly atmosphere helped out by the sociable staff, and not too noisy at all despite being just off 5th ave. Would definitely stay again

The location was great but the place was very quiet and didn't have a whole lot going on. It's great for passing through since it's literally immediately on the beach but I wouldn't return for a long stay.

The place atmosphere is awesome, I felt like in home thanks to the staff that is very friendly and helpful. They even organized a "tour" to get us to other places and stuff. Im very thankful to them to my stay there a really nice experience. The only thing that I think that should be better there is the organization and cleanliness in general, and it should be specified that breakfest is not included for everyone.

Came back for two weeks as last year. Perfect place close to the beach, kind staff, nice atmosphere. Ghesthouse style more rustic than lukurius. Perfect for cool people . Special thanks to Gama for his kindness in each occasion. Hasta la proxima, Corine

The rooms are not anything special, but the location is excellent; especially if you are staying a short time in Playa like we were. You are right between fifth avenue and the beach, with a bar across the street that offers cheap beer. It was also quiet there while we visited, which was perfect for us. Breakfast included fresh cooked eggs which is always a plus.

If the hostel is called "Bed and BREAKFAST" there should definitely be a breakfast included for every guest, no matter if they stay in a dorm or a private room! Otherwise this is not a bed&breakfast and the guests have to be told about the fact that there is no free breakfast for everyone, in advance! This was a littebit disapointing! Furthermore, it is not acceptable that you don't provide towels for your guests, not even for rent! Please change this! The location itself was totally fine!

The twin private room with shared bathroom was almost offensive. Just because it is only $48 a night doesn't mean ANYONE deserves to sleep in a room like that. I would like to ask the owner if HE would sleep in a room like that. He wouldn't. It smelled terrible, mold on the walls (can get sick), dirty fan, holes in the screens, window pane falling off, dirty floor....as youth paying cheap- we just don't deserve that! This room resembled a prison cell.

CONS: -If you are prone to mosquito bites, it might not be a good idea to stay here. My boyfriend discovered new bites every morning after sleeping here. -There is very little privacy due to screens with see-through curtains instead of actual windows. -It can get pretty hot in the rooms. PROS: -Relaxed atmosphere -Literally right next to the beach, and right by the bus station -Friendly staff and guests -Comfy hammocks to chill in (in the common area)

The hostel is not really nice but it's very close to the sea and I got along very well with the staff. I stayed there only one night but I wouldn't have liked to stay much longer.

B&B Popol Vuh is in a great location, right on the beach and just a 2 minute walk from the ADO bus station. We stayed in a room with a cute upper loft. The only downside was a fan in the room that sounded like a helicopter was going to land. We loved the main common area with the shaded trees and hammocks. Breakfast was included and was pretty decent. Would definitely stay here again.

I really liked Popol Vuh. The central courtyard with tables and hammocks with palm trees overhead is helps you feel removed from the insanity of 5th St. The only small complaint I had was that the roof of my cabana had a little bit of stuff falling down onto the head area of my bed. But overall, if you are OK with basic accommodation, then Popol Vuh is a terrific choice.

We stayed in room 10 -- the only room which has an ant/bedbug problem that the hostel tried to get rid off by spraying the place down. The layout of the room itself is brilliant -- one bed on one floor and another one up the brown ladder (the stairs to which are visible in the pictures). The bathroom has a hot shower, but ants congregated under the sink. The biggest advantage is a gate directly onto the beach -- which we had to climb coming back one night because the front gate wouldn't open.

The best part is the location on the beach and the courtyard where you can hang out in the shade of the palm trees and relax in the hammocks. I definitely enjoyed my time there, and it seemed to be a pretty "chill" place. A quiet getaway just off of the 5th Ave. Lots to do if you're into the bar scene, but personally, I enjoyed a break from the sun on the beach to relax in the hammocks! The only downside is that the dorm room was pretty crowded - not a lot of extra space. Fairly clean.

Overall it was a below average budget stay. The sheets were stained, threadbare & a mattress pad would do wonders given the poor condition of the mattresses This is NOT a bed & breakfast, it is a hostel that offers toast, cold cereal, eggs and a slice of processed meat at their affiliated bar/restaurant across the street. Cabanas are concrete-walled rooms, not cabanas. It had the atmosphere of a trailer park. But there is direct beach access & white sand right to your door if that helps.

living in a tree house on the beach was awesome! Surprisingly quiet at night after 11 and in the morning. I would definitely stay here again and get the same bed in the thatched hut. Hosts were great, came out for a few beers and pointed me towards anything I needed.

Good place to stay in Playa, right next to the beach. Quiet at night. Both dorms and privates are clean and comfy. Great showers with hot water. Kitchen is ok but could be improved. Good staff especially Gerry who is very easy going and fun. The cleaning lady is also very sweet. We would definitely go back there.

The stay was great. The only thing that was bad, was the fact that you couldnt let alcohol stay in the fridge without somebody would steal it.
