Kitchen utensils were a bit dirty as the people staying there weren't cleaning up after themselves. Other than that, it's a good hostel.

The Brisbane City YHA is located close to the Soutbank area and to the Roma Street rail station. The hostel is relatively new. The Dorms feature air condition, a locker with power point and a reading light per bed. The bathroom consists of three separated small rooms for basin, shower and toilet. Both the dorm and the bathroom were in excellent condition and cleaned regularly. Unfortunately, the air condition in our room did not work properly, like the light in our toilet room :(

The receptionist only booked my in for 2 night and I asked for 3. So as a result I lost my deposit despite me having a receipt for 3 nights. So I was out of pocket thanks to that. I was also not issued with a yha stamp card as I was suppose to be by the same receptionist. Other members of staff were fine though and rectified the girls mistakes.

We LOVED this hostel....it was absolutely outstanding. Everything was super clean and the facilities were excellent. The kitchen was HUGE...big enough for everyone to cook in and the pool was an added bonus. The TV room was a welcome place to chill and the bar downstairs serves amazingly yummy food and has a great atmosphere. There is a large laundry room and the bathrooms are very clean! It might as well be a hotel!

I stayed in 4 bedded room which was clean all round and the visiting guests were friendly as were all the staff. Also kitchens were well equipped and cleaned on a nightly basis.

The common kitchen was very good and the common pool area/terrace was beautiful. The room (we had a 3 bed dorm) was small but clean with A/C. Everything worked well and we can definitely recommend this hostel for anyone visiting Brisbane and want good value for money.

Nice place, especially when compared to the surrounding hostels, which appear on the whole pretty nasty. A little bit of a walk to the south bank and train station, but reasonable. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. Not bad.

I have sent this earlier but maybe problem in sending. I have fantasic stay. Live in NT often stay at YHA Alice Springs (second home for remote workers, teachers, nurses, flying doctors pilots). Brisbane was wonderful. After 3 months in the desert on an Aboriginal Community travelling 5 hours into the desert. I stayed there one night enroute to Tassie. I could stay there a week and have a complete break. Beautiful pool, tv room eating area. Wonderful. Staff super. Watch disappeared bathroom???

Clean, secure, good value but not a hostel for great character or atmosphere. Wifi expensive and inflexible policy on printing (I couldn't print 1 page boarding pass without paying for an hour of Internet on the PC even though I had paid $20 for 3 days of wifi :()

Great stay, as usual! I love this place - clean rooms, helpful staff, good bathrooms with great showers, love the food at Drifters...the only problem I've ever had is my card deactivating itself, but the staff member at the front desk always fixes it in 30 seconds, so no worries! Will stay again!

New and clean. Excellent security. Big lockers with power points in them (bring a lock). You can bring in your own alcohol. Avoid 6 bed mixed dorm (mine had no window and only one very dim light). There is a bar next door, however it was never busy and there was nothing organised at night (except TV night etc.). Good hostel overall - Definitely recommend for anyone traveling in a group. If by yourself, you may want to look for a "party" hostel.
