The location is about all this place has going for it. I am a bit bitter because the staff is a poor and acts like you are not a guest and like they are not actually at work. Major case was one of the workers who was arguing with some chic that was from Chile or Argentina outside our window for like 45 minutes - she was crying, he was yelling and time and time we told him to go away and shut up with no movement. Not a good person to have on staff.

If you want basic human rights, then don´t stay here! There was no running water while we were there - no showers, flushing toilets or cooking water. Staff were totally unhelpful and didn´t offer any solutions. They told us it was an Island issue, but our friends at another hostel had hot running water - definitely a Che Lagarto issue. It was like staying at Faulty Towers! We were in a group of 7, and checked out after 1 smelly night. I recommend staying at the Bier Garden Hostel instead!

The last 2 nights of my reservation were cancelled by the hostel, one a few weeks after booking, the other one i was told upon arrival. I was charged more than what iwas supposed to pay. No water for the most part of my stay, while nearby hostels didn't have the problem, sometimes no electricity and wi-fi not working for most of the time.

Che lagarto is a completely dysfunctional hostel. We stayed 5 nights. In that time the electricity was out for 2 days, we had no water for 2 days, the aircon didnt work properly, our door was broken for half a day, our access cards stopped working for our last day ( they couldnt fix them), wifi barely ever worked and the staff were incredibly unhelpful.

The hostel is currently under renovations but nothing was mentioned while booking or on the site. The lower floor smells like sewage at this time. It was a basic stay, in a basic hostel. It did the trick for the couple of nights that we stayed but they misplaced our reservation for the second night. It is next door to the party hostel and if you want to sleep at all good luck. It was fine at the time but I wouldn't stay again.
