Some more cleaning of shared stuff would be welcome (e.g. keyboard, tables, sinks). Very helpful staff

Everything about Eight Elephants (and Dreaming Dragon) is outstanding. It's in a very convenient location, close to everything, perfectly clean and comfortable, the staff is always helpful, and it's set up so that you can meet other people who stay there. It's like my home away from home, I have been to Taipei many times and I always stay there.

The place and staff are very charming. I enjoyed my time there, spend almost 2 weeks at the hostel. The common area was great and you always found a seat, the feeling is more like a big living room. Some said its not great to meet local people in the common room. I especially enjoyed that, than can give you more tips where to go. I recommend this hostel to everyone who like to hang out with foreigners and locals alike.

A great place to stay on the social end of hostel living. They have nice common space and a really friendly staff who make it a fun and open environment. One note: not a great place for early risers. The 7 person dorm rooms have all natural light blocked out which is great if you want to sleep off a night at the bars but not ideal if you're hoping to get yourself up at a decent hour to explore the city. Still, all in all a great place.

Stayed at both EE and DD during a 10 day trip to Taipei. In the middle of the week I had to shift over to another Hostel because all the rooms were booked. The difference between the two were night and day. Eight Elephants is truly one of the best hostels I have stayed at. Gina & Sara are amazing and you feel at home the second you walk in. Staying here will make your experience in Taipei a whole lot more memorable - so just book it & don't think twice.

This hostel rocks. There are only a few hostels that have such a great social atmosphere, this one takes the cake for all of Asia. The choice is yours, if you want to be social, stay in the dorms (Eight Elephants). If you want to have more privacy, stay in the single bedrooms (Dreaming Dragon). Tip: You can stay in Dreaming Dragon and still hang out with the other travelers in Eight Elephants, this is a duplex building and you have access to both dwellings.

Second time at the hostel - the strength of the hostel is that it is great for its location, value, and people that just come through there. My gripe concerns cleanliness - I think there was either a) mosquito problem or more likely b) a bed bug / flea issue. Both nights there I ended up with bites up my legs, arms and hands. The comforter and bed sheets were slightly damp when I got there which may have been the cause.

Owner Comment (Show)
We really concern and we are very careful about bed bug problem in the hostel. We have checked the bed you slept in and also asked our current guests, who recently sleeping in the room, but no one has been bitten. It has already been two weeks. I would say it is more likely not a bed bug issue. Though it is possible that we have some mosquitoes. Since last two weeks it is getting warm. We will make more effort to keep the mosquitoes away. It is very important to report to us, if you find any bites on you. Bed bugs spread rapidly; we would like to control this if we really had a bed bug problem.

Sara [the owner] and her staff inc. Dolly and John were more than welcoming and the atmosphere at Eight Elephants made it the best out of the hostels I stayed at during my trip to Taiwan.
