Wonderful atmosphere and very friendly and welcoming staff. Having stayed in both the single room and 6 bed dorm I would definitely recommend Eight Elephants to any of my friends or future visitors to Taipei. Thank you!

Sara, Valma and Benny were lovely! The hostel has a great atmosphere; super friendly and welcoming. The staff go to a lot of effort to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The showers are hot, rooms clean and good location for seeing the sights in Taipei. Highly recommended!!

Eight Elephants is a wonderful hostel. Stayed here for the first two weeks of a three and a half-month study trip in Taiwan. The staff are great and extremely friendly! They were helpful in meeting any needs or wants, and also were more than happy to give advice regarding any local-related topic. They organized trips to local events or places - as well as movie nights. The atmosphere was great, and it was a great place to meet new people. Great introduction to Taipei City, will stay here again!

Wonderful, friendly staff. Great location. Very Communal. Dorm room area a bit crowded, but not a problem as the lounge area is right next to it. Private rooms in quiet area and very nice. Very clean. Definitely feels like a home away from home.

The apartment is well designed and constructed. Everywhere is arranged to be convenient and comfortable. The rooms are neat and decorated with various cute staff. The location is great, close to major metro station but very quiet. Sara is very nice hostess, plus a pretty girl. Thanks a lot for the cute greeting card and candy. The only downside is the sound insulation. Unfortunately there were quite a few chat audible from the other rooms over the whole night.

Pros: This place has character and spunk. Cons: Mixed dorm room in the basement was dark, stuffy, did not smell very pleasant, did not have a window, the mattresses, blankets and pillows are not comfortable, the bunks don't have guard rails, each bunk does not have its own reading lamp or self for personal items. Overall space is cramped and stuffy.

Eight elephants has everything a great hostel should: clean facilities, a great common area and an awesome staff. Waffle parties, movie nights and comfortable beds. If that wasn't enough, it's also in a great area. Great hostel to hang out and chill out!

I would totally recommend this hostel. I was astounded by the friendliness and welcome when I came in as well as how clean the facilities were. Felt at home instantly, being a single female traveller this was very important. Met all the staff and other guests at the hot springs and we had a great time.

The only good thing about this hostel is the location. Other than that, the guests (most of whom were long term visitors) were extremely loud and rude at night and the staff was generally no where to be found. The lounge is adjacent to the dorms so your quality of sleep depends on how nice the other guests decide to be. I wasn't so lucky. The hostel isn't dirty, but because of the noise and the absent staff I wouldn't stay here again. If you're a short term visitor in Taipei don't stay here.

Owner Comment (Show)
We appreciate your opinion. Actually most of our guests are short-term visitors. It is a place for knowing new people and having fun in Taipei. Technically our quiet hours start everyday at midnight. It is possible that during the Chinese New Year, every body was excited and forgot about keeping their voice down at night. We feel very sorry that it was noisy during your stay. As for your complaint about not being able to find our staff, our staff is here everyday from 10 am to 10 pm. And after 10pm there is also an overnight staff. There is always someone available if guests need help. Please just let us know when you need us. If people are too loud in the living room after midnight, please inform our overnight staff, we will help to keep the voice down for those who want to sleep early.

I really enjoyed my stay here. It seems like a great place to stay, if ya wana meet new people, keep to yourself, or what ev. Both are possible.

This place is why you go to a hostel. To meet new people, explore a different side to a city, to get a local impression of a place whilst living somewhere clean, with good internet and homely. I found all these things at EE. The staff took us out in their free time and were very helpful. I stayed in a single room and it was ideal. I would recommend this hostel to anyone.

This place was nice! Staffs were very kind and friendly. It was a little bit tricky to find the location after going out MRT station but you will get used to it and find easily once you know the direction. The room was clean and cozy. I would like to stay here if I have a chance to visit Taiwan again:-)

The staff is super friendly and helpful. We stayed in the private room / shared bathrooom side which was much quieter than the other half. My only complaint would be the small shower and sink. It was difficult to shower and not get clothes you brought in wet.

if the bunk beds in the dorm are made of iron instead of wood, it would be better. Now the wooden bunk bed would make sounds if the person on the top moves.
