What an amazing idea and place for a hostel! The view is truly INCREDIBLE. I made so many pictures it's just crazy. Since it is a small, intimate hostel, the atmosphere is depending a lot on your roommates, a thing to keep in mind. It was very cozy and the staff is very nice. Thing that could be improved would be the shower. Also keep in mind that pick ups from Tejeda do not always work out the way they were intended so bring some money for a taxi to be sure. Most amazing place of Gran Canaria!
The atmosphere was amazing! The owner, Manolo, was very kind, and even offered to give me a lift back to Las Palmas on my last day. On my first night, Manolo and some of the other lodgers prepared a lovely dinner for us. The hiking around Artenara is wonderful. The location, an actual cave carved into the volcanic rock of the mountainside, is very unique, and overlooks a breathtaking panorama. My two nights there were by far the highlight of my time on Gran Canaria.
Great hostel on a nice location. Perfect for hiking or MTB in the area.
This is an incredible place with sone of the most amazing scenery ob the island I would definitely recommend coming here. There is very little security at cave hostel but its not really needed being in a small quiet town
I recommend it to all mountain/outdoors sports people. You can hike, bike, mtbike, trail-run,... The small village Artenara is calm and cool city with 2 nice bars, 2 supermarkets, and a cute Library with Wifi access. Hostal has nice views to Roque Nublo and Roque Bentayga and other hills. It is simple, clean and after a few days you feel like you are at home.
location is fantastic. sit and stare across the tejeda valley at amazing views all day or hike the valley if you feel energetic. the village is quiet but has a good bar and a shop if needed.owner really works hard to run hostel and suggests good ideas for making most out of your stay
Great hostel, it's reeally small, just a couple of rooms in the rock andonly one bathroom. But Manuel is a really nice chilled out guy and helps create a friendly atmosphere amongst all the guests. It's a great place to stay for a couple of days and do some walks around the big hole in the ground.
After my trip across 6 Spanish and Moroccan cities and villages it is so very easy to recommend El Warung Cave Hostal as the best of a bunch of wonderful places I stayed on a two week hiking and city break. If I could I would give marks beyond the 'excelent' choice available, I really cannot sum up the incredible environment and atmosphere of the area and the hostal which was made so special by the genuine dedication of Manuel to making sure that his guests had a truly magical experience!
Something beyond the norm that one would expect in Gran Canaria, high up in the mountains in the centre of the island, far away from the beach loving hoards is this little gem of a hostel. Its a fantastic base if you enjoy hiking, all the basic facilities are provided in the town, regular buses to and from las palmas and nearby tejada. If you want to explore further its advisable to have a hire car. There are only a few beds so its never going to get too crowded.
Best Hostel on the Island. Best view ever .If you are looking for a quite retreat from the busy streets of Las Palmas this is the place for you
