Fattoria del Bassetto is less of a hostel and more of a home away from home. With excellent prices, amazing historical accommodation and great staff it was the best possible way to experience Tuscany to its fullest. Nights can be a little cold, but that can be expected and avoided if you take advantage of the piles of blankets outside the rooms. After traveling europe now for three months, Fattoria del Bassetto was easily one of the most enjoyable stays I have had yet!

A beautiful hostel, full of character and charm and set on lovely grounds. Close enough to conveniences such as shops and the train station but with a rural feel. Lots of on site parking. A huge dining and lounge area and a working television in the lounge room. A lovely, relaxing feel after the hype of being in crowded, touristy towns. Surrounded by scenic countryside.

Went to this hostel for it's wine tasting and cooking classes: wine tasting required at least 5 people to sign up and was semi-pricey; cooking class required only two people but at least a day beforehand and is dependent on the availability of the teacher. I was coming from Florence, and regretted not staying there as I could have easily arranged these activities. Hostel does have character, very homey, perfect for r&r, but the pool was closed as of sept. Location: pretty but inconvenient.

A really beautiful hostel in a reasonably convenient location. It's a pity about the freeway being so close but you can soon block that out. Can't lock bedroom door when leaving but the main building is locked so it comes down to how much trust you have for the fellow travellers in that building. I'm normally a bit weary but felt very safe and secure.

Such an awesome place. Away from he hustle & bustle in the heart of Tuscany. We did the wine tour and loved it! Had a great bunch of people to hang out with and Luca the dog is gorgeous! Highly recommend. The kitchen & BBQ are great too!

It is a great place for a chill out :) ! I particularly enjoyed snoozing in the hamac and wanderering around the countryside. Ideal if you are looking for a calm place to relax.

A very good hostel with excellent character. The staff were friendly and helpful. They have a well equipped kitchen to cook in and very good breakfast in the mornings. The room was spacious and clean. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

This place was amazing, it is a home away from home, it is right in the tuscan countryside away from all the hussle and bustle of the cities. You can relax in the hammocks all day and sample the local products, or hang out with all the other guests in their amzing communal kitchen, day trips are easy to do to florence, siena, pisa or lucca. This place is a must.

Loved the character and the style of the rooms and hostel. Staff was very friendly. Beautiful scenery. Can be a bit difficult to find. We ended up calling a taxi. They are listed on the taxi sign at the train station. Very clean.

Great atmosphere. Good place to visit Florence, Siena, Pisa and many more places in Tuscany - but also just to relax from sightseeing. Well equipped kitchen (incl. herb garden!). Basic breakfast. Wine tasting and cooking classes possible.

we loved our stay here as it is a really unique and pretty hostel. the pool was a nice addition and the kitchen and communal area were very social. Luca the puppy provided alot of entertain and being able to get a lift to and from the train station was such a great luxury after dragging our bags around Italy for the last few weeks. we were recommended a restaurant called Antica Fonte in Certaldo which had beautiful views and great food. bring the repellent though because mosi's are bad!!

We stayed in the guest house for two nights and this is really a fantastic place, getting out of the city to beautiful Certaldo was well worth the time and the house is a treasure. I suggest taking the scenic walking route through the vineyards to Certaldo Alto, they will give you a map at check in. The atmosphere at the house is friendly and laid back and it is very easy to socialize with the other guests.

It was a vacation from a vacation. After spending a couple months just sightseeing it was great to feel like I can be at home and relax by the pool, chat with other travellers, and hang in the common room. I met great people. Felt really safe in the town and in the hostel.

A beautiful place in the heart of Tuscany. Clean, quiet and friendly. The only minus was the the 30 minute walk in the heat to get there from the train station, but that was ok since the place itself was worth it.

I loved staying here - it was really relaxing and a great escape away from the bigger cities. Unfortunately the weather was a bit too hot so I didn't get to try out the bikes or any of the local walks (apart from heading into the town). The swimming pool in this weather was a big plus. The one thing I would change would be to add security lockers - the other people staying there were generally nice and seemed trustworthy but you never know - it only takes one.

The mosquitos bit the hell out of me, the sun on my face woke me up every day a bit before 8:00, but still... ....BEST HOSTEL EVER! Had a really great time, the staff is so helpful, and in many years of backpacking this is the first time I've booked an extra night just in order to chill and relax the whole day at the hostel.
