Pluses: Great location with lovely breakfast each morning right on the beach, only a short walk to the historic town. Nice outside area with view of the beach, hostel organises dinner each night for around 16 - 20 real. Downsides: I found the hostel quite dirty. No big lockers for backpacks, the bigger dorms have insufficient fans and bathrooms for that many people. Have to pay for using computers and the wireless us terrible!

Bathrooms are disgusting. Dorm room is full of Mosquitos. Staff were amazing though, breakfast was incredible. Beds are very old and pillows aren't usable. Location ok, but the beach opposite the hostel is not clean (towns pipes enter into the water so you can't swim in it). After all of that, good for a night or two, but where else can you stay? The misti next door is so bad, and Che legarto is meant to be damp and mouldy. Thank god for their great staff (well only the American girl...)

Good Location on the beach, although it's not the best beach in Paraty. Nice beach bar and only a few minutes walk from the centre of town. MARY RULES!!

We stayed at the Geko hostel for 4 nights in different rooms. The first one was next to the reception and was very noisy! The second room was a little less noisy but still not quiet. Staff spoke good English and the offered tours were nice. Breakfast was excellent at the bar on the beach.

Well, I was there on a brazilian holiday-weekend and the hostel was loaded with partying, drinking, noisy and puking people. Breakfast on the beach was very good. Computers for internet are not for free (wifi is for free). There are better hostels in town if you're looking for a cozy atmosphere. If you are a party-nut this hostel might be your perfect pick.

fantastic location right across the street from a small beach (bar/huge breakfast on beach). good hot water, wi-fi, friendly english-speaking staff, basic kitchen. definitely recommended. one of the best free breakfasts we've had in south america. easy ten minute walk into colonial side of town.
