I loved this hostel, extremely good value for money and the staff were excellent. The room was super dingy though and smelt damp. Good breakfast and great location
It's across the bridge from old town, but the walk is short. It is beach front, but we went during winter, so the beach wasn't really being used. They have a small bar, so it's a nice a place to hang out. If you're looking for a nice, smaller hostel to stay without loud music, then this is it. The hostel can book everything for you from tours to transportation. We got a private room for 3 girls (bunk beds and a queen bed) for a really good price.
There were no lockers to put our bags in, the doors had bad locks. The storageroom for luggage was always open and available to anyone. We stayed in a 9-person mixed dorm, packed like sardines. The aircondition did not work, so we slept poorly most of our stay. The breakfast was a big plus, with an amazing view.
Great value for money! Excellent breakfast on the beach, nice staff, very clean, cool atmosphere! Overall very good :)
This was one of our favourite hostels so far. Great location and has the hostel vibe. The only downside is that we were not aware of the breakfast until our last day (which is great and in the beach hut over the road) but the staff may have just forgot that day as others knew.
Perfectly situated across from the beach, away from the main town area. Excellent breakfast - fruits and breads. Unfortunately those are the only top things I could mention. The hostel is poorly stocked - no lockers, no soap in bathrooms (which also stinks out the 12 b dorm), kitchen utencils are bare, there wasn't even a kitchen knife to work with. Communal area is pretty small, but again, great views of the water. For the price you pay, don't expect much.
Great location opposite the beach with breakfast actually served on the beach! The staff are too laid back. (There was a power cut that lasted 14hrs whilst we were staying and the hostel staff were nowhere to be seen!) Also, the keys for the rooms are left at "reception" & are easily accessed by members of the public / other travellers. There is nothing preventing somebody else picking up your key and entering your room so we always locked our stuff in the private lockers.
Good hostel, right on the beach, easy walking distance to town, breakfast on beach is nice touch although would love if they could do something about the amount of stray dogs roaming around. Not the hostels fault. Staff were great
Very clean, good atmosphere, very chilled. Staff didn't speak that much english though which was difficult. But I suppose that's our fault for not speaking Portuguese!
had a one night stop over between trindade & sao paolo, & this place was recommended & did not disappoint. across from the beach with a great bar, had live music at night, close to downtown historic area, free capirinha, & the staff was lovely & helpful. one of the guys who is from sao paolo (sorry don't remember your name!) gave me an entire list of things to do in sao paolo, as well as foz de iguaca which were my next 2 stops. thank you so much geko
NIce hostel at the beach. Some working there are really helpful, some are not. Breakfast is standard. Good location. the common-area is a bit small when the hostel is full...and people are cooking.
Great breakfast, great staff, great atmosphere.
Leo the manager is a legend! Friendly staff, great location - only downside is that the wifi isn't up to much! Really enjoyed myself here
The main difference between a Hostel and Hotel is not just price, a hostel offers atmosphere and personality and a hotel offers privacy. When you are traveling you don't always want privacy you mostly want to connect with people and have a good time. Let me tell you, Geko delivers on atmosphere in spades. The hostel is on the beach and you will have your breakfast actually on the beach. The manager Leo not only managers he is a excellent musician that plays in the bar across the road.
This hostel is in a great location and the bar is on the beach which is fun. Pretty much the only bad thing I would say is they have crammed too many beds in one room. Therefore there's no lockers or space for your bags or walking around in your room. Was a fun stay tho!
there was a mess up with my reservation but they solved everything very nicely!
Great breakfast and lovely staff. Dorms are a bit small and not enough space to store luggage when every bed is full. But decent overall.
