And to make this experience complete, on the road to Paraty Mirim, you will find Remo Hostel, the accommodation that will make you forget everything and want to stay in the forest forever!
The experience is wonderful, but forget about luxury and the superfluous; embrace the down-to-earth feeling of having your feet on the ground.
Try it and allow yourself to experience it! You won't regret it!
Our hostel is in the village of Parati Mirim, 16km from the city of Paraty in the middle of the Atlântic Forest. Located 15/20 minutes walk from Parati Mirim and Furado Beach, the region has several beaches, islands and waterfalls, with access by trail or boat. The house is made out of wood, up in the trees, has a view to the ocean, it's open, with a lot of life around.
The rooms are separated by bamboo walls, have a musketeer bed, ventilator and full bed set.( If you need towels there is a small tax.) We do NOT have TV, our policy is based on the connection and interaction with nature, arts, with others and oneself. We have Wi-Fi, the use of electronics ALWAYS have to be silenced and the use of headphones is MANDATORY.

We recommend you to bring a backpack and a flashligth, because the way to the treehouse is steep and has stairs. ( The rise is about 200mt.) In the areas with wooden floors, we walk BAREFOOT, to discharge energy, reduce noise and connect with the space.
The house has parking and there is a local bus leaving from the Paraty bus station that stops at the entrance of the Hostel. ( I can send the schedule in case you need it.)
The check in time for the room is at one o'clock, the check out at 11hr, but you can come and stay in the common areas anytime you prefer.
We can to cook by yourself, the kitchen is fully equipped, there are 2 basic markets in the village and some local restaurants.
The coexistence in Hostel, is characterized by the dynamics of SHARING, CARING, BECOMING RESPONSIBLE for belongings and what you use, HELP TO KEEP CLEAN as if he were at home, being AWARE that other people also make use of the spaces, utensils and various things in the house.

How this hostel has a decent overall review is beyond me. I am someone who likes camping and living in the outdoors but this place was shocking. The place is filthy, we were shown our room which was covered in dead flies and debris all over our bed sheets. The bathrooms are permanently damp and have mud on the floor with limited hooks and shelves to put your stuff. The whole building is very dark and it makes it difficult to see anything, to make it worse out light in our room broke so we had to use headtorches. The kitchen is dirty, we found hundreds of ants on the stove, the sponges were brown and there was no soap to wash up with. The breakfast is expensive compared to other hostels and was very limited and without normal breakfast staples. We found all the food weird and horrible. There is also a hostel dog who aggressively barks at you when you come in and out and frequently bites guest but they let it roam free. To top it off during our stay we were woken to work men banging and walking on the roof above our heads (which is extremely low) and banging about from 8am for the majority of the day. Worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in.

I loved this hostel!!! As long as you’re okay with being off the beaten path and far from the city, this hostel is awesome. It’s so immersive into nature and the staff/volunteers are so incredible. There’s also the prettiest beach that’s a 15-20 minute walk from the hostel on a beautiful path. I’d absolutely recommend it here!! And I also highly recommend traveling here during their winter - it’s so much quieter and the weather is still nice.

A hidden blessing. I had the pleasure of coming during off-season in July, and it added to how peaceful it was. The coordinator and volunteers (Tiago, Veronica, Rebecca and Cecile) were angels. Cooked breakfast, interacted with guests, helped book activities in and outside Paraty… the owner even sells massage and oils! Extremely clean, quiet hours are respected, breakfast and spreads are all homemade! Very isolated from the city center, need to take the bus/van, private beach and hikes near! :)
