Theo was very helpful! Wished there were more toilet stalls in washroom on our floor. The pub crawl was boring. The location is close to everything! The info centre very helpful...needed to get to Ontario, CA and they provided me with everything.

Brilliant location-sandwiched between shopping promenade and the beach. The hostel was clean and the rooms well set out with the feeling of having enough space. A key card is required to get through reception and also into your room, medium sized locker included. The atmosphere is calm, with many people doing their own thing in the lounge areas. The kitchen could use more equipment. Cost was more than expected when non-member fee and occupancy tax added(about $4 per night).

Lovely place to stay. Great free breakfast. The ban on alcohol was a bit strange though, I didn't expect that, however it created a good vibe in the Hostel. Really clean Hostel, lovely staff, great location but if you want to get into Hollywood the public transport takes AGGGES!

Considering how much we paid for this hostel, we were a little disappointed. It has a great location and the facilities are pretty clean. We were booked into a 6 bed dorm and it was so small there was no where to put our stuff ( the dorm was full). We moved to an 8 bed dorm and it was better. The rooms need more powerpoints. Overall it was fine, just lacked atmosphere.

I would like to see fruits in the breakfast, enough with apples and bananas, and may be not to canceled the activities because a rain the day before but to change it. Otherwise i loved the spirit of the hostel.

The hostel itself is clean, and the kitchen and bathroom facilities are great. Meanwhile, I have never encountered such rude and unhelpful staff. No smiles, no please, no thank you. In addition, things weren't explained to use properly and we were dissappointed in how we were treated. The wifi situation is very poor considering the amount of money being paid at the hostel. They should have a look at how well St Christopher's Hostels are run.

Amazing location, good facilities like the TV room and the laundry room and the dining area...no complaints except that the wifi can be a bit spotty sometimes- that's about it :)

Enjoyed my time here, Great location close to the beach, shops, bars etc! staff were helpful, breakfast was average but was free so no complaints! The wifi is frustrating as there is many to choose from but not all work great! Bathrooms were clean and the rooms were spacious!

I am concernd about the high cost of stayng at the SM hostel in dorms during the summer. $50/night is expensive, contravening the mandate that hostels be affordable to encourage traveling, promoting understanding. I am concerned about the recent decision to not allow people living in Los Angles County to stay at the Santa Monica hostel. The county is vast, taking 5-6 hours to travel from one end to the other by public transportation. Those living in LA County travel in internationally too.

Good hostel, but it extremely lacks the atmosphere. The cleaning needs to improve - bathrooms seems to be dirty and are not sweeped/mopped properly. Only one hair dryer worked while the rest were broken . Overall, the location is great and is not far from the beach and pier and the breakfast was good. There is one particular staff that have made one dinner night and the pub crawl a dissapointment. Not going to comment or name, but I feel he wasn't professional with his job.

The internet connection works only in the common areas, not in the rooms, and it's very unstable. The whole atmosphere was kind of unwelcoming, the staff seemed to hate their job and I felt uncomfortable hanging around at the hostel. They didn't promote the activities nor had a clue about public transportation when I asked them, so I pretty much had to plan everything on my own.

I enjoyed my stay at the Hostel. It provideded more extras than most motels/hotels. I appreciated there being a separate lounge for the TV, electronic communications, and socializing. I loved that there was a free iron and board in the laundry room. The best part was at the end of the day being able to get a hot drink in the kitchen or fix a snack or supper there!

I have stayed several hostels in LA, and this is one of better one so far. Most other hostels are pretty noisy all night and much more dirty than this hostel. The only problem is that Wifi here only works on the first floor near the kitchen area. It often does not work everywhere, and I saw some people went to Starbucks near by to connect to the internet.

Didn't really enjoy my stay for several reasons: 1. Not enough plugs in the room, only two in 6 bed room, had to go down to the reading room and charge my phone at midnight. 2. Only given a blanket/towel serve as substitute for comforter, had to put all my coats on top of it to stay warm at night. 3. Short breakfast time and very limited choices with limited seats at dining area. 4. A lot of elders and other folks that are not youths staying there. Not a good atmosphere for students.

too expensive, the price was 36$ including tax, but 25$ would have been better. I paid 20$ at the hostel on Hollywood Blvd.
