Heart of Gold Hostel Reviews

The heating system in the room they had given us was not working, so we had to change it. And although we had paid for an ensuite, they gave a dorm with shared bathroom and wc. I don't know how many people were using it but we had to wait for hours for a shower. Even we were forced to stay in a room which we didn't want to, they did not paid back the difference between the costs of the rooms. The only nice thing about the hostel was free coffee.

Additional breakfast for 4 euro was very poor and inadequate. No fruit at all.

Great hostel. Clean, efficient staff, great location. The lobby always seemed lively and the rooms were always super quiet. Perfect. Walking distance from all the good stuff. Thanks!

Thank you very much for the plesant stay. The rooms where nice, with good beds and a clean bathroom. The staff was helpfull and de lounge was good. But what about the €1,- beers?

The security was really good. The staff were mostly very friendly and the location was reasonable, pub crawl starts right around the corner. The only problem was the showers, the showers themselves were clean but whenever you ran a tap a dreadful smell rose from the pipes. It was rather disgusting and I did my best to limit my time in the bathroom while there. We complained to the staff and the said they would sort it out. Not sure if anythings has been done yet or not.

VERY NICE!! everything went well!! although they dont have kitchen, you have to go across the street to the other hostel they cooperate with to borrow the kitchen. It's quite inconvenient! the price is cheap if u have free breakfast (stay more than 3 nights i think) staffs are good, wifi is good (but only in the lobby)

Stayed in the mega dorm over new years, was very clean and suprisingly quiet. The showers were amazing! The bar area was great and didnt mind you drinking your own drinks bought from the supermarket in there. All staff we lovely. The perfect place to stay in an amazing city.

we've booked for nye, which normaly is a very busy holiday, but we had a great time there. great staff and great ambient. we could really feel like staying at the hostel drinkings beers at a long day walking around the city despite sleeping at a 36 bed dorm, i never had to wait to shower, and the bathroom was pretty clean. the breakfast had lots of options, and they had tea, water and coffee available all day for the guests, for free! i would only require for cheaper pubcrawls

Should have Wifi in the room. The security doesnt seem to be good. The main door for the female hostel building can be open to everyone and sometimes the 2nd door to the female hostel is open too. I dont feel very safe sometimes.

Near to Museum Island, best to rent a bike outside a hotel to see the city, which is near to the hostel as well. 4 bed dorm is great, the bunk bed is the most comortable one I have ever tried among the hostels!!

It was very good hostel in exellent location. It took only 20 minutes to get there from airport and it was walking distance away of the centrum. Breakfast was good and I got good help at staff when asking how to go different places. I would gladdly recomment that hostel to my friends.

Don't be panic! It's a worth place to stay in Berlin!

Great stay at Heart of Gold! Staff were great and very helpful! Location was great as easy to find! Bar/lounge area was really cool with cheap drinks! Good atmosphere overall! I am a hostel manager myself and everything was great! Cheers Heart of Gold! If I'm ever in Berlin again I will stay here again!

A comfortable lounge area, has loads of pamphlets and helpful staff. Free breakfast was top notch! I felt very secure, key card required to get anywhere. Luggage storage was a tad lack-luster, most the lockers were broken, but I left my bag in an unlocked locker and it was fine. Location was great, very close to the train station as well as many sites. Bunks were secure, beds weren't bad. Showers on 1st floor were big, but gave off a sulfuric smell sometimes.

Great atmosphere, really fun bar in the reception area. annoying that there is only wifi in the reception, front desk people could have been a little more informed/helpful, TERRIBLE lighting in the rooms, bathrooms smelled sometimes. clean rooms, and really big rooms was really nice!

The location is quite unbeatable and for that price, the hostel in general is very acceptable. The staff was at times a bit passive and slow to respond on situations that arise, but it never led to much inconvenience.

The wlan never worked. We asked an employee if he could help us, he tried, but couldn't fix it. The lobby and room were nice, except the light switch for our room was either outside in the hallway, or in an inaccessible corner of the room. Of the 3 bathrooms on the floor, only 2 had showers, and one of them was just a tub with an extendable shower head, no walls/stall. Also, the first night we were there, someone was screaming in the couryard the whole night, really loudly.

Hostel was great! Rooms and toalettes/bathrooms were clean. Staff was helpfull:) And breakfest was good and it was nice suprise that it was included!
