Me and my friend stayed at tomaru's place for 2 nights. The host and his wife were very nice and new very good english. It was the cleanest hostel ive been in japan, everything is new. 10/10 experiance

Excellent place to stay. It's a beautiful traditional japanese house with japanese beds, even in the dormitory, and with a very high level of comfort. For example the beds are very thick, there are extra blankets, curtains between the beds in the dormitories, and so on... But the most important is the very welcoming staff. Always very helpful, with many good advises about the city, and bringing a very nice atmosphere. However payment in cash only and no free PC (but free wifi available).

this is an excellent hostel. it is very clean and is in a tradional japanese style. i thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. the only downside to note is that there are no laundry facilities onsite although a laundromat is close by.

A really great place to stay. The couple running the hostel were so friendly and helpful and with the other guests (all Japanese) we had a lot of fun talking with them. The room was very large and comfortable and the facilities were great. It was a bit cold but that was more because of the weather and location of the town. This hostel was great value for money and with the owners it made it a special place to stay. If I ever went back to Takayama, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Wonderful, helpful staff; great location- easy wallk to the station and major attractions; good kitchen if you want to prepare your own meal- must stay here if going to Takayama!

Really great hostel and friendly owners, this hostel location is very convenience, only 3 - 5 mins walk to/from the train/bus station. After my 1st night staying in this hostel, I decided to extend my stay for another two nights in this hostel.

Wow! Stay here! great japanese style rooms and lovely clean european bathroom facilities, amazing and friendly owner who are so helpful! This hostel was also in a great central location in Takayama, close to the Markets, Heritage and Temples walking routes around the town and to the main shopping district. We had an extremely comfortable stay and would definitely stay again, we had a private room and it was massive with its own heater and with plenty of room for all our packs and gear. Awesome!!
