We'd booked to stay at another place before arriving in San Pedro, so we only got to stay at Hostel Candelaria for one night. The garden courtyard is gorgeous, the perfect place for relaxing. The room was clean and a good size with excellent lockers and comfy beds. The owner was really helpful in telling us about different tour operaters for different budgets and had great recommendations for eating out. It's a shame we were here for only one night.

Only a shirt walk from the bus stop and city center (in San Pedro everything is close) staff very helpful. Offer ride from the bus stop with your luggage. I can highly recommend it!

Nice hostel and staff. My dorm was a bit too small for 5 persons. Hot water showers were hit and miss, and often had to wait for a bathroom. Lacks an indoor common room and the wifi is very unreliable.

This hostel has everything you need, the showers are ALWAYS hot, the owners are friendly with not shortage of local advice, its a wee walk but the town is safe. Would totally reccomend!

Friendly owner that spoke fairly good English. Included free transfer from bus station (very important for a night bus). No breakfast but that is the same as everyone in San Pedro. 10 minutes walk from town center (maybe less if you're fast), which was OK for us but there are lots of hostels in town (cannot comment on quality of those). Can book tours from hostel but they don't force it on you. Locked front door, dorm door & lockers in room. Cheap laundry service. Hot showers, nice outdoor area.

The owners were incredibly helpful and helped my family sort through the dozens of tour agencies in San Pedro. They picked us and returned us to the bus terminal. Our rooms were comfortable and secure. I actually enjoyed the short distance from the center as it gave us a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery every morning as we walked into town. It was also very quiet and clean. I highly recommend this hostel.

Mario and his wife were very helpful and welcoming, They clearly care for their guests and it made our stay very pleasant. The rooms and bathrooms are all very clean and the beds are super comfy. I would come back anytime. The only thing is that the hostel is a bit far from the center, then again, most of the hostels around are far from the center so it doesn't really matter. I highly recommend it. Thanks!!

Great place with great hosts! Location is a bit far from city center (10 min walking, but walking in the empty streets between the cemetery and the wasteland, whats not pleasant at night). apart from the location everything was great! Good breakfast for additional 2500 pesos.3 bathrooms, very clean, though only 1 had soap. Towels not provided, so dont forget to take them with you. You can use kitchen and bathroom after check-out for free. In the territory many cats and 2 dogs.We loved that place!

San Pedro is located in the desert; there are flies and the buildings (facilities) are dreary - so don't expect anything else. This hostel is excellent! The staff is very helpful, kind, and the area is charming. It's located a 10 minute walk from the towns main square, we didn't care. Highly recommended.

A nice hostel with probably the friendliest owner I've come across in south America. Dorm was cramped and had no ventilation, so felt stuffy. Bathrooms were fairly clean. A big problem with flies, EVERYWHERE! Kitchen slightly dirty. Quite a walk to the centre. Still, I would reccommend for the nice vibe. I think keeping a place clean in the desert must be difficult, so I don't want to be too harsh. Wifi was average.

First of all, Mario is really friendly en helpfull! We've booked this hostel for its ratings, But... The 5 bed dorm was to small compairing with the other rooms. Breakfast is not included and the kitchen and the other common areas are very dirty. In our opinion, they don't clean enough and the price is to high for what you get. We did already several hostels, we aren't difficult, but we wouldn't recommend this hostel.

Very friendly and helpful owner who speaks English. The walk from town is OK as long as you are comfortable with a ten minute walk in the dark. Decent kitchen & wifi connection. Nice outdoor area, but beware that there are a lot of cats and a couple of dogs, so the outdoor area does contain some of their odour!

Owners Mario and Miriam are really frendly and helpful, will even come and pick you up and drop you off at the bus station. Nice outside area to chill out, with hammocks and tables and chairs etc. Breakfast not included but they will provide one cheaply (in their own kitchen!). I was a bit worred about how far it might be into town given some of the comments on hostel world, but is no more than a 10 minute walk.

It is a rustic backpacker, calm, a little bit far from town (10-15min). Staff is really good. It is not a party backpacker. Hot water and clean bathrooms.

Positive: Owner was very friendly and helpful. Lockers in dorm. Hammocks and tables outside. Negative: Hostel was very spaced out with everything in separate buildings. This was only made difficult because it rained every day we were there. Rain also created mud which made everything dirty, however staff made a big effort to reduce the problem. 15 minute walk to town centre was very frustrating. No breakfast offered.

Nice hostel with a nice out door area. Very secure. Walk from town is not far at all and there are plenty of locals walking along so its rare that youre walking alone. People are very friendly and helpful in San Pedro anyway so no worries.

Nice hostel, very authentic! 10 min walk fron downtown, but I've seen many there that are like this. The owner is very good guy. Everything worked well, I would recomend. (ah, breakfast is not included!)
