Pros: The owners were really great--quite helpful, flexible and attentive. The daily breakfasts were filling and included a varying selection of breads, spreads, and local fruits. The property was cool, too, with all the hammocks, the shaded areas, and ample seating space. Cons: Hot water was unpredictable and didn't last long enough for showers. Dishes, cabinets, and refrigerator weren't very clean. Sometimes, supplies (toilet paper, dish soap) wouldn't be resupplied without some prompting.
Very nice and helpful owners, decent breakfast, clean, cozy and comfortable bedroom. Is a bit of a walk from the centre of the village but we didn't mind it.
A very funky place with a great vibe. Mario is a great host. The pluses far outweigh a little discomfort and inconvenience.

The breakfast is really great. The owners are really nice. It's a little bit far of the centre, a 10 minute walk. But it's okay. A pick up at arriving was with the backpack a good welcome. We had a double room and in front it had a shadow terrace. We recommend this place.
great little hostel, we haven't stayed in a hostel in a long time but for the price the location was excellent, we even got picked up from the bus station, and the breakfast was great! served your food at the table like a restaurant. lots of animals which we didn't mind but some people may do. We didn't have an ensuite room so sharing bathroom was an outdoor facility. not ideal but in the end not a big hassle either. is nice and quiet. clean for such a dusty town. great stay!
Kind, friendly and helpful staff, and a good location in a quiet street, not very far from the centre of town. Nice common areas and an excellent breakfast. But, one of the pet dogs howling and barking continuously for 45 minutes in the middle of the night is not any fun for anyone, especially those planning to get up at 4am for a trip. Also, some rooms have pillows that are virtually solid and really not suitable for sleeping on.
The hostel is awesome!!! The room is fresh, the water is hot and the breakfast is really really good. It's a 15' walk from the city centre but it doesn't make that much of a difference. During the day one can chill on their courtyard and at night you can see the stars very well (by the way, San Pedro has the most amazing sky you'll ever see in your life). Mario and Miriam are very nice people. They treat you as if you were family. I would definately stay here once again.
within the san pedro scenario, this place´s facilities are just like any other hostel in san pedro, the only thing i did not like was the walk to the small center of san pedro, its not far, but when you do it under the hot sun of the desert, is not really pleasent.
the hostal was great. Mario and his wife, the owners, were so helpful!it was amazing. Really. Never before I had such a high quality in a hostal despite having travelled quite a lot.

Nice, simple hostel. Very friendly and helpful staff.
This hostel is not in the centre of San Pedro, but a 10 minute walk. The rooms are clean and secure. Ours was not very well lit but it did not matter too much. The owners make this stay absolutely amazing. It was like staying with an uncle. We got our laundry washed (not free), hot water, breakfast made fresh for us as we sat in the kitchen, helped me print an important document and got dropped off for free at the local bus station when we left. Without a doubt the best service on our trip.
A fantastic location. So relaxing. Great service, breakfast and hot water!!!
Extremely helpful and knowledgable staff!! Very good atmosphere and a beautiful and very cosy Patio :D
It is a little walk from town - say 10 minutes, and perhaps 15 mins from bus station. The host is very nice and web lent me a jacket for the El Tatio geysers when he learned that I didn't have many warm clothes. Rooms are nice with small balconies and tables and chairs outside. Shared bathrooms clean, though the water veered between burning hot or freezing cold if you even touched the cold tap! Breakfast was good, but starts at 8, we were very kindly given it early on day 2 before our bus :)
This hostel was great! The owner was incredible, so nice. He drove us to the bus stop, made sure we were comfortable and was very friendly. The breakfast was great. It's located a little ways outside of the main tourist center of San Pedro, just a 10 min or so walk away which meant it stayed really quiet at night. The only drawback was that there were a lot of cats and it occasionally smelled like cat pee outside and in the bathroom.
New best hostel! The owners of Hostel Candelaria are great an made our stay in San Pedro a really good one. They were extremely helpful and provided a great breakfast. They make a great fruit drink for you every morning. Lots of cats and dogs around which is nice if you like that. Nice place overall really. If you were to nitpick its slightly out of the centre, but even in the desert a ten min walk doesn't hurt.
We found the hostel to be a very welcoming and helpful place to stay in the San Pedro. It's about a 10 minute walk from the touristy part of town, but the owners went out of their way to help us out. Our room was fine, but the hot water in the showers takes a bit of fiddling to get the pressure right. The courtyard was a pleasant place to hang, with plenty of kitten watching for entertainment. Great breakfasts.
You've read about the 10 - 15 minute walk to/from town (no big deal) and the cats and dogs (also, no big deal, we wanted to take the little curly haired white dog home with us). San Pedro is a dusty place so the outside sitting area can be dirty, however, our room was clean and had lots of space. The Wi-Fi worked in the room and the guest kitchen is nice and well equipped. The included breakfast was nice, coffee/tea, bread, juice, fruit, butter, jam and eggs (or some equivalent).
I had a wonderful stay at Hostal Candelaria. Mario and Miriam were so very kind and helpful. It was very relaxing and nothing was a bother. The bed was really comfortable and warm, and the room was clean. A great breakfast was provided with fresh juice and scrambled eggs. A few cats and dogs, but they were easy to get used to, and it was fun watching them playing together while relaxing in one of the many hammocks. Overall fantastic!

The location is great. It is a five minute walk into the main square. The owner is incredibly helpful! He was able to help book travel, answers questions, and help out in any way he can. The courtyard and hammocks are wonderful. It is worth spending an extra day to just relax in the courtyard (tours back to back can be exhausting). There is a good wifi connection and a simple shared kitchen. It is tricky to find the right balance of hot and cold water in the shower, but it always had water.
