About

OVERVIEW
Welcome to Hostel ELF — a social backpacker hostel in Prague with a relaxed atmosphere, colourful street art, a green courtyard and travellers from all over the world.

Since 2000, we’ve been welcoming backpackers looking for more than just a place to sleep. Whether you’re travelling solo, with friends or as a couple, ELF is the kind of hostel where it’s easy to meet people, share experiences and feel part of the community.

Start your evening with a Czech beer in the courtyard, join one of our regular events or traveller meetups, fire up the barbecue, relax in the common room or head out together to explore Prague’s nightlife. Some guests come for a few nights and end up staying much longer.

LOCATION
We’re located in Žižkov, one of Prague’s most authentic neighbourhoods, just a short walk or tram ride from the Old Town and the city’s main attractions.

Žižkov is known for its local bars, cafés, live music venues, galleries and laid-back atmosphere. It’s the perfect area if you want to experience Prague beyond the tourist crowds while still being close to everything important.

Nearby you’ll find the Žižkov TV Tower, the Vítkov hill and viewpoint, Palác Akropolis, local beer gardens and plenty of places to eat, drink and explore.

SERVICES AND EVENTS
Our friendly 24/7 reception team is always happy to help with local tips, recommendations and everything you need to enjoy Prague like a traveller, not just a tourist.

We regularly organise social events, traveller linkups and casual activities that make it easy to connect with other guests. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed evening, new friends to explore the city with or a fun night out, there’s usually something happening.

We also offer free Wi-Fi, free coffee and tea, a fully equipped guest kitchen, luggage storage and comfortable common areas designed for meeting people and hanging out.

ROOMS AND DORMS
We offer a range of shared dorms and private rooms for solo travellers, couples and groups. Rooms are clean, comfortable and full of character, with original artwork and street-art details throughout the hostel.

Dorms include personal lockers, fresh bed linen, key-card access and sockets by the beds. Safes are also available at reception for extra security.

NOTE
To help maintain the social backpacker atmosphere in our shared dormitories, dorm accommodation is reserved for guests aged 18–45. Guests over 45 are very welcome to stay in our private rooms.

Summary of traveller reviews

Hostel ELF in Prague is praised for its incredibly friendly and helpful staff, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Guests love the social vibe, making it easy to meet fellow travellers, and the comfortable beds with privacy curtains are a frequent highlight. While the location is a bit further from the city centre, it's well-connected by public transport. Some recent reviews mention that rooms can get warm in summer due to a lack of air conditioning.

great hostel, very social, made many friends, lockers were very small, and some of the showers were too, fire exits were also blocked by large objects which worried me. Generally the staff were so kind, and the guests too. the free BBQ was a really nice touch and the games too (though it was mainly playing cards, I would've loved some dice). Overall solid experience

Good vibes, decent location, only a short walk into the town. Lowkirkenuinely the room was a touch small but that doesn’t matter so much as you’ll only be using it for sleeping.
