IMPORTANT: Although our private rooms are listed as having occupancy for 2,most of them have more than one bed.The price reflects the amount for a 2 person occupancy. There is a $10/person charge in addition to the base rate for more than 2 people which may be taken care of upon arrival . Our Superior private room has two king beds. Our Deluxe room has a king, a full and a twin size bed. Our standard and basic private rooms have a king and a full size bed.

Hostel Plinio is one of the newest additions to the hostel scene in Manuel Antonio and is one of the oldest hotel properties in the area. In the early 80's when Plinio was built there was no road leading to the property, only a small dirt path. The materials used to build the original structure were taken from the surrounding jungle or brought in by foot. This type of construction made for magnificent wood work and a truly natural vibe. In fact, in the hotels early years it was precisely that natural, secluded feel that attracted characters such as Timothy Leary. Plinio was one of Mr. Leary's Jungle hide aways and once you've experienced this historic location for yourself, it's not hard to imagin why. Open air, beautiful dark wood, jungle life, a mountain breeze, ocean views, convenient location, a rich history, and an unshakably deep feeling of relaxation makePlinio a very, very special find.

Today, Plinio is a staple in the Manuel Antonio community and a place for locals and travelers to enjoy. The property features a hostel, a restaurant and bar, a deep pool, a scuba school, and a studio space for classes and events.

The accommodations at Hostel Plinio all include a Continental breakfast and range greatly with the intention of being suitable for travelers on every kind of budget.

Each of the two dorms feature three stories, spacious sleeping areas, a bathroom, lockers large enough to fit your whole pack, powerful wall and ceiling fans, hard wood floors, ocean and jungle views, and outdoor patios.

For a more private stay, travelers may choose from 4 styles of rooms. The grandest suite features three stories, a private living room, private bathroom, two king beds, spectacular ocean views, and 2 private outdoor patios including a third story observation terrace. The deluxe private suite also features three stories, a private living room, and out door patios with ocean views. Sleeping options in this suite include a king, a full and a twin bed. From there, you will find the standard private and the budget private options. The standard private rooms feature two stories, a private bath, a king and a full bed, and a shared patio seating area with the best ocean views in the house. The budget private room has a comfortable full size bed, ceiling fan, private entrance and shared bath.

Its location is one of Plinios most attractive features. Perched on the mountain side and on the main road between Quepos and the Manuel Antonio beach, Plinio is perfect for travelers seeking the convenience of easy transportation to local attractions without the headache and hustle of being in town. With a bus station within a few steps of the main entrance and easy access to taxis, everything is accessible from Plinio.

If you are searching for a truly unique hostel experience, Plinio is an excellent choice. The only problem you can expect to find having to pull yourself away at the end of your trip.

We have put our hearts into creating an unforgettable location and atmosphere for our guests and are continually elated to share this project with travelers. Our intention is to provide an escape from the norm and an opportunity to unwind, detach from the outside world, and connect with the jungle and pura vida way of being.

At our hostel you will not find television, you will not find AC, and although we do have wi-fi it is not pumped heavliy throughout the property. You will find wide open spaces, open air rooms (with screens of course), open air common areas and impressive accommodation choices. You will hear toucans, monkeys, occasional road noise, people laughing, and music playing at the bar and pool. You will see the ocean, Costa Rican mountains, an abundance of jungle plants and animals, and sometimes...... monkeys in the kitchen. You will smell the hardwood, the beautiful sent of ylang ylang trees, and the mouthwatering smell of the barbecue smoker at the restaurant. You will feel a mountain breeze, a sense of calm, and most importantly you will feel welcome.
