The only issue I had was with the lockers in the room. I assumed I would be able to lock my belongings away, but it turned out that you need to bring your own padlock. This wasn't mentioned anywhere in the booking information, and the hostel doesn't provide padlocks either. I was simply told that I should have brought my own. But how was I supposed to know that? It's not something I would automatically think to pack. This should definitely be communicated to guests in advance.

While the location was amazing, something turned my trip into a night*are. I had to catch an early morning train so I was in the restroom and I got locked inside because the door handle was loose. I banged, kicked, yelled, called reception multiple times but no one came to help as the reception isn’t 24x7. Called emergency but before police could help, someone from property came and rescued me after 30-40 mins of being locked. They didn’t even apologise and I missed my train. Will never stayhere

Great place and in a historic location and historical property, it’s very clean. And the only hostel to stay if you are visiting Ghent
