I wish there were more places to sit in the rooms. When you have a top bunk, it's really annoying to have to hop around trying to wear your clothes or do anything else. Electric outlets for the top bunks and reading lights would also be greatly appreciated. It would be nice if there was a designated quiet room. We couldn't find one and I was travelling with a friend whose religious practices were mocked by other people in her room when she prayed. The hostel was great! Love the staff!

Common spaces are super nice, including study rooms, theater room, pool table, huge kitchen etc. but the individual rooms are so so. Loud AC and creaky beds.

I went alone from April 08 to 17th 2013 and it was the perfect trip, in my opinion. The place is really well located (you have two possible subway lines around), Central park is just behind, the neighborhood is calm and you find everything you need (restaurants,, pharmacies, anything), the staff is really friendly, the food to purchase at the hostel has a reasonable price (not expensive). If you can cook, the kitchen is always available and clean. The bathroom was clean, too. Really good!

I've traveled a lot, 45 countries, and I found hostels are what you make it. This hostel had all the necessary amenities to make a great party or adventure. I'll give it an A+.

very nice place to stay. Especially loved the decor, cafe and outdoor patio. Bunk was comfortable. Got a parking ticket. Wished I had thought to ask about parking my car.

WIFI SUCKS! And very cold at night, but only because my roommates would turn off our heater. Overall stay was amazing, location was too, atmosphere, events and everything great. Except poor wifi...

Beside being clean, friendly, and fun, it's also a few blocks down from the Seinfeld Diner (Tom's Restaurant). Need I say more?

This is a big hostel with too much noisy. It is not a good place to live. There are too many people in a room and could not have a good rest in the night! But the location is good and near to the subway and Central park.

I agree that scale is pretty huge, so that you don't friend as easily as you would in a smaller place. That said, I liked the diverse clientele, and I felt like everyone was relatively friendly. There was a vague spring break cliquishness to some of the groups...

Very crowed with a bunch of high school kids. But love the sing up section for daily city tour. Kitchen is the best!

Very good stay I thought it was very expensive to leave a bag in the hostel after you had checked out.

Very positive experience and I would definitely stay here again. Guests should be prepared for the large groups of school kids that stay here on their New York trips. They can be a bit noisy sometimes. The location was very good, cheaper prices than downtown in the area but still very good connections along all of eastern manhattan!

I booked my stay for one day online, when I arrived, they gave me a mixed room with all boys, and I am a female, I remeber booking a female room. I had a hard time at front desk switching to a female room, though half of the beds were not even occupied. Some of the staff members were very rood, some were helpful. Location is not very safe at night, it takes 15 min to get to Times Square by subway.
