Good location, close to the subway. Lots of places to eat around the hostel, and great activities run by hostel, easy to meet people

Staying at Hostelling International was great! Too much space, clean nice rooms and restrooms, many facilities, great caffeteria. I also liked the idea of tours promoted by the hostel staff and the "out goings" to pubs and clubs, these can make a trip funnier for sure. I only have to complain about the staff, that they could be more easygoing and helpful with the guests.

It is a very, very huge hostel. Just like the entire city of New York, it is very unpersonal. They do offer good tours, though and the comedy nights are funy, but the whole atmosphere is tather unfriendly.

Me and my friend stayed there for a week and It was just great!. The staff is supper nice and helpful 24/7, there are great commun facilities in the hostel- all look new, clean and comfortable to use. The kitchen is well equipped. Rooms are big, bathrooms are always clean. The location doesn't really matter because the subway is just half a block away. We had a great time and recommend it for sure!.

Overall experience was great, the hostel offers a lot of options if you want to tour the city or the neighbourhood. It can be a little loud when people from the bedroom upstairs start moving in the morning, but this is an easy solution problem. The beds were great, huge locker, very clean. I think there should be more outlets close to all beds, since everyone needs to charge their phones and cameras at night.

Great infrastructure. Great toilets and showers. The hotel has a excellent kitchen, many places to hang out, drink a coffee, talk, meet people. Also has a nice outside space, and all the facilities needed (laundry, lockers, change machine, etc), could have breakfast included though. That`s it. I didn`t had time to participate in any activities programmed daily by the hostel, so I can tell about them, but they sure have activities programmed everyday, morning to evening - that`s very good.

First week of stay, I asked the cleaning lady to change my sheets because I noted there were blood stains. She didn't see them because when I got to my room the sheets are turned inside out and obviously blood goes through. So I watched her the second time and they were changed. Second week a girl brought a guy into an all female dorm and all they did was tell her NO like a toddler and let her stay. She also stole my shoes. Other than that, nice place for the most part. Decent facilities.

Amazing kitchen. But I'm not a fan of the huge hostel vibe or the pumping dance music in the common area

Maybe you should consider refurbishing the hostel as it looks a little bit old.

I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone. The atmosphere, the layout, the value, everything is unbeatable! I won't go anywhere else if I return. I enjoyed the organised outings such as the comedy nights, pub crawls and the village walking tour. Fantastic. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Loved it!

I have stayed here before and will continue to do so every time I come to NYC. The rooms are always clean including bathrooms and I have never ran into any problems. You also have to consider that this ia a very large hostel that can hold well over several hundreds of people. They do a excellent job of managing and maintaining the place. They also have some of the best tours of NYC.

This was a great hostel and I made many really great friends. I love all of the tours that are already planned, it's like you don't have to plan anything yourself. The only thing I didn't like was the weird rules about drinking. Sometimes it was ok, and sometimes it wasn't... not very defined. I think as a 27 year old it was a bit demeaning to not be able to drink in a place I was staying with other adults. Overall though, a top experience.
