The hotel did not have non-smoking policy and it wasn't informed before hand. I was put into a smoking room and wasn't told about this prior to my booking. I was suffocating and requested a non smoking room but there is no available. I noticed that the ventilation system in the room is linked to other rooms. If I did put into a non smoking room the smoke will travel to all rooms so it will not help.

Wonderful hotel and a decent price, though I will say that the name and location of the hotel is not well known within Kobe. When I asked for directions no one had ever heard of the Shisyuen hotel. So perhaps give more specific directions (left, right, etc) on how to get to the hotel from the station considering none of the taxi drivers had any idea.
