It was better than I expected. I just want to request about restroom. Having only 2 restrooms for 3 dormitory rooms is too liitle to use compare to the number of students. I hope there are more restroom at least one more.

This hostel is not the best for single travelers, since they don't have a real good common area (no bars, pool, or anything that would make people stay in for a while), but u can still make a lot of friends. They were pretty reasonable about the cleaning at 11 AM, so if u were still sleeping they would clean other areas first and not kick u out of the room. Value for money is excellent, since they are one of the cheapest in NY, with a very good location and a sub station half a block away.

A very nice hostel. Great location, 1 min walk to the next subway station. The nice big lounge downstairs creates a great atmosphere, a second home. Will come back

Great hostel, I've been to many in Europe and Central America that were amazing and this one can definitely compete with those.

They stayed open for me as my train was delayed by an hour and a half which stopped my evening from becoming very stressful. Unfortunately there was no free breakfast although this was stated and there is no wifi which makes it hard to plan things and email home to let people know how you are. There is one computer but you have to pay to use it.

location is the best, just beside central park, with metro stations nearby. There a big public place with kitchen. The facilities are a little bit old though, the heater in my room didn't work well and for myself i couldn't sleep well on the mattress, but it was not a problem for my friends.

The staff was amazing and very friendly, the location was perfect for getting around and checking out the scene, and I felt very safe. I met a variety of wonderful people from around the world--a truly magnificent experience. Also: very clean. Cleanliness is a big deal for me, and I thought the place was kept up very well.

This hostel is the absolute cheapest in New York. But, just remember to bring your own towel and don't expect anything extra. The building is old, historic, located in a great neighborhood near Central Park and the red and blue Subway lines going downtown. So, if you're looking to do New York cheap, I recommend that you come here and don't complain that little amenities that you might take for granted aren't there.

I used to stay at this hostel everytime again in new york. Now you have to book it through this dodgy malfunctioning, misleading portal called hostelworld and can't book it directly anymore, like i used to do. When booking it this time around we fed the right dates, it said it was available and then we booked, turns out we booked a random date. I wrote everybody about the mistake. Nobody wrote back, they debited the stay from my card already. No one cared. WATCH OUT !

They are strict about keeping luggage in the office but the security of the luggage is pretty lax.

Close to the Metro station... From 12 to 3pm, you literally cannot be in your room. You also cannot take baggage into your room, only small bags and backpacks.

Really friendly and helpful desk staff, amazing location, overall a great place to stay in NYC, would be nice if the bathrooms were a bit better furnished, and I would pay extra for towels.

It is very close to central park and the subway. But the rules at the hostel are a bit annoying and having to lock your bags in the office is very inconvenient. Though they are very clear about stating this beforehand.

An excellent and very convenient hostel. Across the road from Central pack and a subway station around the corner making travelling to other parts of Manhattan very convenient. Cheap and very clean. Excellent kitchen facilities. Nice and warm expecially as I was away during the winter season. Only downside is you have to climb 4 flights of stairs to get to the female only dorm. But that's no problem. As they say you get what you pay for and this was a cheap place and very convient

I would give this hostel 2/5. 1 score cleanliness and 1 score for great company by other travellers. But to be honest the postives end there. When you book this hostel from hostelworld there is no explaination that you have to literally leave your room between 11am - 3pm. I found this completely inconvienent, especially if you want to go out in the city that never sleeps! Furthermore you have you to leave all your large suitcases down stairs due to OHS reasons. Which I believe is utter nonsense

Good value hostel in the upper west side just next to a subway station and Centra Park. Staff is friendly and helpful. The common area is perfect to socialize and chill out. Location is perfect if you want to escape the overcrowded noisy midtown. Rooms are big and clean. Big downside : no wifi even if there is a Starbucks 2 blocks south.
