no coffee or kitchen...really good breakfast at restaurant, but it had closed without notice the night before.I had planned on having pizza there and came back from town to find it closed after being told it closed at 9pm,not too cool and too late to walk back in the dark.

This a really nice hostel, only 200 meters from the center of the town and right across the road from the beach. It's a pretty quiet place but a great spot to just relax and spend some quality beach time. The restaurant is really good. Its a little expensive but no more expensive than the rest of town and it was really delicious food. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone staying in Puerto Viejo

Kaya's Place is one of the best places to stay in Puerto Viejo. When I first got to the town I was a little annoyed by the location because Kaya's is not right in the mix, its a little bit more secluded right next to Playa Negra, but I immediately realized what a blessing this was as a solo female traveler. Kaya's is extremely safe and doesn't have the same theft problems a lot of hostels in Puerto Viejo have. The staff is friendly and accommodating and will go out of their way to help you.

Kaya's Place, right on Playa Negro, a great swimming beach, has a relaxed, family vibe, and the best pizza and mojitos around. Outside of town, but only 200 meters from town, it is quiet and private.

I stayed in a single room with shared cold shower and toilet for two nights. The room was simple, very clean. It was right next to the showers/toilets which were noisy when in use as the walls seemed thin, but it didnt bother me at night as there werent many ppl in the hostel. The lady on reception was very helpful and spent time researching snorkeling for me as she didn't know much about it. The hostel is about 5min walk before the town on the main road, and not as dodgy as some have said.
