A very friendly and welcoming hostel. I loved the odd random crab lurking about in the bar and the big frogs.....The food was excellent and they even served cava in the bar...I would strongly recommend ths hostel.

Away from the Main Street in puerto Viejo which is nice because it is quiet at night. There's only one bathroom for each gender for the entire place and two showers. It wasn't the cleanest but it was okay for a 2 night stay as a college student.

Great place, the view of the beach is great and being five minutes from downtown keeps the place very quiet at night. If only the rooms had better ventilation and didn't get so muggy.

We made our stay at this hostel short and sweet. While the location of this place is right across playa de negro and the eye catching bright paintings around are pleasing, its other aspects were average to poor. Being in such a warm humid climate sleeping in surrounding heated wooded walls and floors with a lack of air circulation were assault to injury. The importance of cleaning the bathrooms are not a daily concern here. If you can rough it like a boss by all means make your stay here.

I stayed at Kaya's Place for a week. The people there are great... and napping on the hammocks to the sound of the waves crashing is heavenly! I moved around a few rooms and I have to say that room 7 is definitely my favourite. So, if you can, request that one. I really enjoyed my stay there. Kaya's place is about way more than just the rooms, it is a home away from home.

Amazing colourful artwork everywhere! Loved it :) lots of great places to just sit and chill, hammocks & benches, although there wasn't much interaction between other hostel peeps. We really liked our room, HUGE bunk beds, like 6ft high double beds. We got a room without a private bathroom and I'm glad we did, the ones with bathrooms sounded like they had bug problems. Rent a bike while you're there! Hostel is slightly out of town might be scary walking by yourself at night. No kitchen to use

Kaya's Place was so amazing that we moved our stay from 3 to 5 nights there. The owner is extremely friendly and the cast of characters that reside there are always willing to distribute valuable advice, from the walk into town to the best places to eat. The location is amazing . . . Playa Negra is literally across the street, and Puerto Viejo is just a five minute walk away. This is the perfect budget hostel for 20-something travelers, with a sense of fun and a chilled out vibe.
