The room was comfortable and they provided a meal. The only complaint that we had though was the lack of hot water in the showers. Certainly not what we needed after climbing Mount Kinabalu that day! However, this is made up for by the excellent staff. The morning of our departure they booked us a taxi back to the national park. When this failed to appear, one of the staff drove us there herself, so we wouldn't miss our ongoing bus. This was very much appreciated.

Great place to escape from civilasation. really clean and I met amazing people over there. You can walk to park entrance, but D'Villa is def closer. You should def be ok with cats and insects to stay there, as they are everywhere!

The hostel staff were extremely accomodating to our late arrival check in, and were even happy to drop us to Poring Springs on one occasion. The view of the surrounding mountains is stunning, perfect to build the excitement for the Kinabalu trek! The location is a short (2km), pleasant walk from the park entrance. The only criticism was that the hot water facility was only available between 4 and 8pm, due to bathroom upgrades, hopeful these will be finished soon. Highly rated accommodation!

Lovely hostel with a great view from balcony especially when sunsets. It is a 2km walk from park entrance, but much cheaper prices than staying in the park. If you don't fancy the 20minute walk (30mins with big backpacks) you can get a taxi for 15MYR, but care taxi's can overcharge as have monopoly. Dorm accommodation is basic and I advise layers to sleep in as cold compared to elsewhere in Sabah. Breakfast is Toast & jam plus egg and beans. Serve a basic dinner for 8MYR

The Lodge is only 2km from the National Park so great alternative than staying inside the park (cheaper). Easy to take a taxi there, but if you are saving your pennies like us and you are going to walk there, the 2km is long when you have luggage! Awesome location with pretty views. Homely feel with kitchen facilities, tv, couches, verandah to relax on. At the bottom of the road that connects with main road are fruit/vegetable stalls so you can buy food to cook. Staff really kind and helpful.

Friendly staff, nice place even if a bit remote (better to have a car to avoid walking 20min to the park). Kitchen is free to use and common place is cosy.

this lodge is located on a little hill with a beautiful view on mt kinabalu. you are in the middle of nature which is pretty nice and peaceful. it's about 2km from kinabalu national park. the rooms and facilities are very simple but ok.

If you think to climb the Kinabalu Mountain and you have car it is a good place. but if you don't have car this place is not easy to access around the area. booking a taxi is very expensive here. At first we though to go to the park and Poring Spring, but it turn out costs you much more than the money you need to come from KK. So, I would suggest you try to book the tour package from KK to here. Unless you just want to hide from the big city for few days, here maybe a good place for relax.

The atmosfeer was really bad. We had to sleep in a room under the veranda. It felt like we slept in a basement. And it smelt bad. The road to the hostel is tricky. With the weather consitions we had to walk one night because the taxidriver could not see anything. Afterwords we wished we had booked an hostel IN the parc, unfortunatilly we didn't knew that

This is a basic lodge for walkers. If that is you, you should enjoy it. If not, go more upmarket. Be prepared for the cold and damp.
