It is right in good location for viewing the Haleluya mountain, but the way to the lodge is a bit challenging, as you need to walk 1 km with ascending & descending path, but for mountain climber, I dont think its a problem. Need little cleanliness. The staffs are very friendly, helpful and informative. The vegetarian meals is good too. I got help from the young man staff, he offered me a ride to the junction to get my taxi back to KK city as the taxi could not pick me up in front of the lodge.

Kinabalu Mountain Lodge is a very nice hostel. Nestled in the middle of Kinabalu forest and only 2 km to the entrance of Kinabalu Park. The hostel is very secluded, you can find serenity and tranquility here. Staff and facility also very good. Minus point is only the cleanliness, which I hope they can improve in the future.

Lovely spot surrounded by jungle noise, down a long drive with lots of butterfly's. Two km from park gates.

it was nice to come to a place where the staff cooked vegetarian meals. We are a family of four vegetarians and very often find it difficult to find food for this. We also liked the cat they had at the hostel.

We love the location of the hostel. The staff were great and the food was delicious. We however would not stay again or recommend the place unless you are bringing your own bedding. They do not supply sufficient blankets for the cold on the mountain and everyone staying in the place complained. They happily gave us extra blankets (free of charge) when we requested, but these were also paper thin and did not fix the problem. It is a shame that they do not provide adequate blankets.

Nice hostel in the mountains, ideal for anyone doing the mt. Kinabalu climb. It's a 1km walk from the main road, and from that junction it's another 1km to the park hq. But the morning I needed to get to park hq they gave me a lift which was good. Showers were cold, and only able to use them in the evening. Food was good, cooked a vegetarian meal for us. And breakfast was ok too, just toast and jam etc. Loads of moths, and big ones! But they didn't really bother me. Views were incredible too

Adventure journey from main street to the hostel location make it different from other hostel. Surrounding with natural green & colourful wild flora. Heater is needed to be install in because its very cold at night.

We spent there 2 nights. First night we felt like strangers (but we were th eonly touris), we were siting in rest area while at 8.30pm the stuff "kindly" suggest us that we should go to our room, coz as they said: "it's sleeping time" - that was really bad. After we left the staff moved their mattressto the rest area and they were watching TV!!! And the first morning we didn't get any breakfast! The second night was different, so we have really mixed feeling about this place.

Owner Comment (Show)
Breakfast serve from 7.30~8.30am only, there is notice board that mention the serving time. And I hope there is some misunderstanding, since my staff said that she just kindly request guests turn off lights if they go for sleep..but if my staff really do so, I apologize about that and will concern about our staff training.

Hostel is not prepared for bad weather: if it's cold there is only one heater for rent - what about the rest of the guests?

Really, nice place - with an amazing view! Great for staying over to climb the climb the mountain or to visit the park! We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed the big balcony! Room was nice and clean! Only weird thing was that people (staff and some customers) always stared at us...I know to expect staring from some locals in some towns and all, but it was really weird to have the people who work there always stare when you get coffee, go to the toilet, walk down the stairs, etc...

I stayed for 2 nights and it was a lovely place to come and get lost in thoughts while looking at the amazing view. Extremely peaceful, this is not a place for loud parties but a place to relax, sit back and read that book you have been carrying around on your travels. Food is delicious. The 1km walk from the main road to the lodge is hilly and steep...especially in the heat and carrying your bags. It is a 2km walk to the National Park or there is a short cut trail from lodge. Well worth staying

This place is ideal for those that love the fresh air and scenery. The location is stunning yet only a 2km stroll from the park. The staff are all really friendly and helpful and the lodge itself has an unfussy but comfortable atmosphere. If you're content with a good book or great view, this place is ideal. We visited in December when the clouds have a tendency to envelop the place and bring a bit of damp with them. That aside, this place is a real gem.

Very friendly staff. Located about 2 km from the entrance to the national park. Basic but nice place.
