The hostel is quite difficult to get to. I really recommend bringing a vehicle... it's one km from the park, yes, but then another 1-2 km uphill on a muddy road through the forest. There is no wifi, which is fine if that's your thing, but it can make arranging plans difficult. You also need to be brave enough to face the arrangement of very large bugs and moths that are in the hostel and in many of the rooms. Also, avoid the dorms. The view was beautiful though.

The security is good and you could have box type locker to keep your money and expensive items. The staffs are very helpful and creates a good atmosohere for networking with different sorts of background. I stay in the dormitory which is rate good in terms of cleanliness and of course excellence for the value of money.

I love this place ambiance, greeted by 2 lovely cats, this place is full with moth but I have no problem with that because they are beautiful, just bring your mosquito repellent it should be fine. Bathroom are huge & clean! Amazing view from the lobby/balcony.The staff a bit lack helpful in providing information, maybe they are shy or what. Bare in mind to walk from main road to the lodge took 1 km or less, make sure you are fit if you have no transportation, but along the road, nice scenery :-)

A 2-kilometre walk to the Park entrance, but very good value in comparison to Park accommodation. Peaceful hillside location with fine views (but NOT of the mountain), and within the cloud forest. Hundreds of moths! Friendly staff, good vegetarian meals. No towels provided.

Staying at the Kinabalu Mountain Logde can be an experience out of your comfort zone. It is located in the rainforest, so be prepared to come across giant beetles and moths and generally a lot of insects. It is a great place to stay before or after climbing Mt Kinabalu and a perfect spot if you just want to do some daytrips. Staff is very friendly.

The view from the Kinabalu Mountain Lodge is amazing. However, the way to reach the property is quite challenging. It's 1 km from the National Park gate to the main entrance and then another less than 1 km with steep roads up and down. If you bring heavy backpack, ask the driver to drop you at the location. Walking to the national park gate take around 30 minutes or less. If you're in hurry taxi is available for 20 RM one trip. Breakfast and dinner menu choices is limited. Hot shower works great

The road leading to the lodge needs a 4 wheel drive. Need to improve on hot water facilities

Overall not bad, the walk from the junction is a little steep with backpacks, the location is 2k from the national park so is walking distance via the road. The view from the lodge is breathtaking staff are friendly. The dorm was clean, comfy pod beds. No wifi. Breakfast isn't included and basic, pay for tea and coffee outside of breakfast time. dinner was poor. Take food and water if you go, you can't reach a shop and although you can buy water and drinks they are pricey for a backpacker.
