La Belle Planete Backpacker Hostel Downtown Quebec Reviews

Pierre (the owner) was super friendly and had excellent knowledge about the city and backpacking culture- fluent in english&frenc. Skippy the dog was friendly. The private room was good. The power outlet in my room didn't work so I had to charge my phone on the computers overnight. I was pretty comfortable leaving it out there because of the common area camera. Room design was unique and funky. Bathrooms on my floor were small but had the necessities. Great experience and value for cost overall!

Great location in terms of accessibility to the Musée de la Civilisation, farmer`s market, bus and train station. The lack of security measures ie. no keys or locks anywhere would have bothered me had I stayed for more than one night.

The hotel has a really great position, 15 min form the bus station, 15 min from the center and near the bus 800 who goes to the Momenrency Falls. I was really surprised by the quality of the service given for such a cheap price. The staff was really nice and the location cute. I really recomment it!

This hostel was not good. The worker at the front desk was friendly, but the owner was very rude to his employee and did not make us feel welcome at all. It put us on edge for our entire stay. He also has a dog that is not friendly, and tried to bite us. We were told that it was cash only, which ended up being untrue. Our beds were incredibly squeaky and uncomfortable, shower worked half the time, and there was a bar across the street that kept us up. Overall, a poor experience.

Expect nothing more than the price of $22 a night. Location is okay but downtown quebec is pretty boring and the hype is more in the old city. Had a private room which was on the top floor. Bed was very average...it would squeak with the slightest movement. Staff were friendly upon arrival which was nice. However on our second night we saw the owner push and punch someone who had rung the bell after 11pm which was entirely unnecessary. Was very glad to be leaving this hotel by the end.

Everyone can enter the hostel, there is no real security because the outdoor locker is broken.

hi just tell you that I had the worst service I've ever had. T The room and the showers was durty. No check in before 3pm and you have to pay cash only. There is no safe place to store the bags

Staff treated me well, showed places of interest in Quebec providing me a map for free. But few things to improve: beds should be already prepared just not to lose time for arranging, covering pillow and stuff like that. No soap neither towel, neither shampoo in the bathroom. So after washroom I had to go to the kitchen to use a dishwashing mean to wash my hands. And it was cold inside. Overall it is ok, but for this price you have a right to expect smth better.

The light was very dim. There are lot of strange rules you don't really understand.

Stuff were really rude to us. The boss is a disagreable person, but may be you will be lucky not to meet him. Atmosphere in this place was very unpleasant and I am really dissatisfied. We were in 8 people room and didn't have a key from the room to lock our things inside. There was no breakfast and you could drink only alcohol you bought in here. On the other side, location of hostel is pretty good and there is free wi-fi.

There was no hot water for showering when we stayed there. Not sure if it was just because there were so many other guests or if this is the norm.

My experience at this hostel was very very poor. I'm there on vacation and an employee immediately started badmouthing America and Obama to me. Politics have a place and it's not my vacation. He basically asked me for money one day and I heard him call me a shyster another day. I saw dog poop on the carpet and we were asked to take our shoes off. Staffing was very poor. The room smelled.

I really enjoyed my stay. The only downside is that you have to walk up the stairs to upper town whenever you want to go to the Old Town, but for Downtown the location is perfect. The two computers with free internet access were especially useful. I liked the pretty and clean bathrooms and the homely kitchen. Will definitely come again when I'm in Québec.
