We liked the location because it is not too far from centre and all the agencies for tour booking. Rooms are really dark but bed was comfortable and bathroom was ok. There was a kitchen - dirty, don't like. Old food was standing around and it smelled. Staff/owner is really chaotic. It seems they don't know who stays in which room - but it worked for us. We stayed two nights (before and after tour) and then changed Samana Wasi (same street, really close) which got bright rooms and same price :-)

It's good place to stay while you're in Arequipa. The staff is very helpful and it's a great location.

Nice small hostel near main plaza and amenities. Great for price...great hot showers. Also allowed us to store our bags when we went to do trek the Colca canyon. Jose and his wide are very friendly, there was a few things lost in translation but nothing drastic. Jose booked our bus out of Arequipa which was great. Also did our laundry at short notice which was great. Only downside was we had downstairs room following our trek which was very loud as walls are quite thin. Great sun terrace

All the positive reviews about the family atmosphere thanks to the owner, Jose, aren't lying! We were greeted by Jose's cousin initially, but soon after arriving Jose welcomed us, helped us book various tours of Colca Canyon and even tracked down a fraud tour operator and got my friend's money back. The hotel itself is great, with a beautiful terrace overlooking the city. Wifi, hot showers, etc. Good location too!

We stayed here before and after our trip to the Colca Canyon and had 2 very different experiences! Before our Canyon trip, our stay was good, friendly welcome & the room wasn't ready but we were early so they cleaned it for us. But when we returned from the Canyon, our stay was much more chaotic, we got no toilet paper nor towels in our room and there is only one person there that seems to know what's going on and he's not always there! So, friendly enough place but pretty disorganised.

We were only here for a night but had a great experience. Jose was so helpful and sweet! Shower had hot water. Quiet hostel which is what we were looking for after 24 hrs of traveling. Highly recommend!

Great location in the center of Arequipa, and Jose and the staff do a wonderful job showing individual attention to each guest.

Jose did everything possible to help us during our stay. Booking bus tickets, sorting out hot water issue immediately, finding us a reliable taxi on the street when we were in a hurry to catch a bus. A great host and excellent hostel.

José is a very nice person and tries his best to make the guests feel comfortable. The hostel is just a 3 min walk away from the Plaza de Armas and has nice rooms. We really enjoyed staying there! The first night we had to go to another hostel, because it was fully booked. José brought us to the nice woman running the Hostel La Posada del virrey, located just on the other side of the road. The hostel was also really nice, especially the terrace on the roof and the lady was lovely :)

Jose and his family are great, very hospitable and super helpful. The hostel is located very close to the main square, and near to many restaurants. Good wifi in the main area, and a nice view of Misti volcano. Would definitely stay here again! :)

Do not stay anywhere else in Arequipa. The guy who runs this place is beyond helpful- he really will go out of his way for you. I was taking a night bus, and not only could I store my bag here during the day, he let me have a shower in an empty room and use the facilities even though I had paid for only one night. Plus, he gave me great tips and advice for how to get around the city, etc. PLUS I had the most blissful hot shower of my life- he uses solar panels so you never run out of hot water!

Excellent. The Posada is a marvellous place to stop during the travels. The rooms are very clean, the beds - comfortable, staff- super helpful, they will even sort your laundry out for 3 soles a kilo.Aa small kitchen equipped with utensils enables you to prepare food, from salads to whatever else you fancy. Fantastic if you a budget traveller. The highlight of the Posada is the terrace with a splendid view of the city and three volcanoes. I loved it so much, going back there for another 3 days

Its a hotel not a hostel, no party or atmosphere. But if you want a nice clean place to stay with really friendly staff then go for it. Terrace on roof is beautiful, sit and have a glass of wine or a dooby. 5 minute walk to plaza centre.

Jose the owner is the nicest person you will ever meet and is always there to give you any advice! The location is very central just a couple of blocks from the main plaza and two blocks from the Santa Catalina Convent. The kitchen though small had everything we needed. We loved Arequipa so much we even stayed an extra night at the hostel!

Excellent budget option in Arequipa with some of the friendliest and most helpful staff in South America. Rooms were clean with private bathrooms with hot showers (hotter in pm), soap, towels etc, TV. Hostel has a roof terrace which has great views of the city and volcano Misti and is a perfect place for a beer.

Wow, I read reviews about how Jose, the owner, was super nice but he exceeded my expectations. On our last day there, we asked Jose if he could call a Taxi for us but he said it would take too long because of traffic. He said we would need to walk up the street to hail a Taxi. I was a little nervous about this but then he proceeded to walk us out & up the block, hailed the taxi, & then negotiated a cheap fare for us! Also, the bathrooms are the cleanest I've seen in all the hostels I stayed at.

The rooms are worth the money you pay for them, they are clean and compact, though a little worn out. Some sketchy people hang out there at night - don't know whether they are supposed to be some kind of staff - why it doesn't feel that safe.

Friendly staff and good location. Would be happy to stay again, a good budget option in Arequipa.

Great place. Only real issue was around hot water. We were told they had it but had one shower that was tepid and another that had no hot water at all. Not a huge issue and common in South America but it was a tad annoying as we had asked about it! Otherwise a great place and very good value for money.
