Lhasa Sonam Youth Hostel Reviews

The hostel was not centrally located. Too far away from the center so you had to take a taxi. The gate closed at midnight so we felt like a couple of teenagers. But most of all, what happened with the bathroom?? This was made of glass, so you really have to love each other to be ok with this (we had the double room). Even the dorm outside could look right into your bathroom! So please, close the curtains before you go... Good shower though. The room gets really cold in the evening. No heating.

The hostel was generally of a good standard. The double room was excellent, both comfortable and well equipped. The dorm was beds were heated well but the room was cold, the shower constantly hot and the western toilet broken. However, the hostel staff kindly offered us their room to use the shower when it was frozen early in the morning. New Years Eve was excellent fun and we were provided with free food and an enjoyable atmosphere. The hostel is reasonably well located close to the Palace.

I have never been in a place like this one. Lhasa is really a holly place. And I always stay in a hostel, but this one was the best I have ever stayed in my life. Incredible people. J.J and Raphael did everything I asked them such as TTB permit, tours, pick up at the airport and much more. As a Brazilian guy I am very impressed about such efficiency in a place so isolated from the real world. Nice experience! I will never forget it. Thanks a lot.
