Luna's Castle Hostel Reviews

I recently had a seriously awesome time at Luna's Castle in the Casco Viejo district of Panama City. Luna's is also a seriously social place, Opportunities for adventure & partying abound. Luna's has an open air courtyard bar(with 50 cent beers!) in it and within a few blocks you will find everything from swanky rooftop lounges and restaurants. The sleeping accomodations are fairly typical for a hostel, the neihborhood is pretty loud in the mornings so don't plan on laying around in bed much.

Lunas Castles was a great place to stay, meet fellow travelers, and party! Relic Bar was awesome.

Really good hostel with nice breakfast. The tour desk was really helpful for organising boat trips to Colombia

I was sad I only spent a night here. What a place with character. My dorm window had the most beautiful view of the old town and the skyline of downtown. The staff were really helpful and the pancake breakie with bananas is yuuummy. Can't wait to go back!

Luna\'s is in a great location at the entry to Casco Viejo, the colonial city that is gritty but full of character, before it gets gentrified. The main part of Panama city by contrast is ignorable and corporate! The views are million-dollar quality to die for. The upper floors are breezy, so keeping cool is not a problem. The place is huge and busy, and a crowded noisy basement bar, but the rooms are quiet. The staff is extra helpful with laundry, airport transfer, internet and the like.

This is a real gringo trail backpackers hostel but they do a very good job of it. Unlimited bananas and cook your own american pancakes make for a good breakfast for a couple of days. Most of the staff seemed pretty cool and helpful. Great location. Full of Australians and Germans. Cold showers are the main disadvantage. Very well furnished and decorated. Great views from front windows.

A friend recommended Luna's and it was only available one night during my stay in Panama City. I loved the character, there were many friendly other travelers around. It had a great atmosphere. As a solo female traveler I was worried about some comments about safety I had read of the surrounding area. I felt very safe the whole time and had no problems during my stay. I wish I could have stayed longer at this hostel!

This is the best hostel I stayed in through all of Central America. This place is HUGE but still manages to have lots of character and is a great place to meet people. Such an amazing old building. There's an awesome bar downstairs, lots of lounge space, in-house cinema, city views from dorm room balconies - can't ask for much more! The staff are friendly & super helpful. The area around the hostel is safe and easy to walk around and there are some great cheap places to eat. Highly recommended!

Really noisy and the staff who is also working in the bar downstairs doesn´t really care about people sleeping.

The staff is amazing and the people staying at the hostel are some of the most fun and interesting people I've ever met. DEFINITELY worth the price. Though I would recommend bringing some earplugs if you fancy sleeping.

Great place. Very lively. Lovely staff *they let me use their phone for an hour when I lost all my cash and cards, and pay late, too. Clean, too!

This place is amazing. Arrived in Panama at 3:00 a.m. and only had reservations for the following night, they let me sleep in on the couch for free!

A great place to meet travelers from all over. I will always remember my expierence at Luna's Castle with a sly smile and a wink.

CLEANEST hostel I have ever stayed in. LOVE this place!!! My favorite asset is the movie theatre. They have hot new releases that you can watch for free when you just wanna chill and stay in. The staff there is young and friendly. Carolyn works in the front desk and she made my stay in Panama GREAT! I would highly recommend this place for those who are traveling alone and want to meet cool people. IT IS SO MUCH FUN! there are two bars there and you cant hear the noise from your room. DO IT!

Love the social rooms and rooms were spacious with big windows and lots of natural light (at least mine was). Bathrooms weren't that great. Not enough, and not the cleanest, but good enough. Wi-Fi was really good, and staff was very helpful and friendly throughout. The bar downstairs was packed on Thursday night, lots of locals spill in and it makes for a good party close to home. The movie room is a nice feature too, though I didn't get used to. Overall, would definitely return.
