The staff are very hospitality. Few minutes walking from the S bahn/bus station. The room is very clean.
My only complaint is that there was a TV in the room! Which some rude guy kept watching in the middle of the night while I was trying to sleep. TVs do not belong in hostel rooms! Otherwise everything about the hostel was fantastic and clean.
The staff is very nice and helpful, but the some guests are bad, I stayed in mix dorm, the boys are so noisy overy night, I can't sleep.
Overpriced (I paid 55 Euros for two nights for a bed in an 8-bed dorm). Remote (it's not in the centre but near Altona railway station). Not very secure (all but two lockers in our room were damaged and did not lock). Not clean (shower cabin full of hair, some trash on floor in my room). Poor atmosphere (a mega hostel with no real common spaces). Room was cramped (not enough place to store my luggage, bad ventilation).
I really liked my stay here. The hostel is far from places you want to see, but It's right next to the Altona train station so you can take the metro relatively easily. The beds are small even for a hostel and the cleaning lady comes so early in the morning... There are also no lockers in the rooms or safes, but there is a luggage room as well as lockers on the main floor. Other than that I enjoyed my stay here.
It was a great time. The attendants were quite pleasants, the room and bathroom was clean and confortable, the breakfest reasonable for the price paid. It's a little bit far from the mainly atttactions, but has easy access to the public transport. Nothing to concern.
The hostel was almost full when we stayed there. There are not lockers in the room, so you need to leave your bags in a luggage room downstairs. Only one washer dryer (and the dryer doesn't work too well) for the whole hostel. A fun vibe in the bar/common area, but it was a little too loud to be able to meet or talk to new people. Overall, the hostel was pretty expensive for an average experience.
great if you want a comfortable stay, difficult to meet people if you're a solo traveller
Not city center but cool neighborhood. rent a bike and go down to the overlook (sweet view) the then make your way west and easily tour the city. Right near the metro too. Pretty pleasant.
The location is not in the city center. Decent but would have rather been in the actual city center for the same price.
the staff is awesome, one of the girls at the counter could speak 5 languages with a good level of understanding. beds are very comfortable.
The only little thing I didn't like was that lockers for your valuables were only available in the ground floor and not directly in your room. The rest was beautiful.
a 4 bed dorm was very big and clean. also a bonus that bed is done which is always a pain to do when you get there late at night. will return.
Had a really good experience here! Shared a 4 bed dormitory with others with 1 bathroom! Everything was clean and we stayed for 1 evening. Within reach of local underground and train station (great for morning coffee/pastry)! Also found my way to other parts of town for nightlife. Cheers!
A nice place, if you're into a more up-market hostel.
Good bet. Comfortable. far centre
Not central location, but the metro ride isn't long. The rooms were very clean and secure but the lockers were pretty rickety and could easily be broken into. Bathrooms and rooms were clean. Kitchen was very handy too. Staff were very helpful!
Meininger's name is misleading because it is not in the City Center of Hamburg. It is in fact west of the city right down the street from the Altona train station. The location is not bad though and the subway is very easy to maneuver. It also is within a 15 minute walk, or two subway stops away, from the Reeperbahn (Hamburg's biggest party scene). The facilities are very nice and the staff was great. There were not many English speaking guests when I was there and it was hard to meet people.
Its in a great area. You can walk around atona and find things to do.
I had a very stay there! But at first morning, the housekeeping wanted to clean the room around eight . How was it comes. I was waken up by the housekeeping. Anyway, everything is very good.
