A lot further out from the city than I imagined. Not a lot to do close to the hostel, and a massive walk to get to the old town and other places of interest. Staff were helpful, but this is really a cheap hotel that has some dorms in it. Lockers in my dorm did not lock. Great shower and toilets in each room, great wifi. Not much of atmosphere down in the hotel bar, and as a solo traveller didn't really meet anyone.
Great place to stay. The staff were really helpful with directions, recommendations and translating German for me! It is a bit out if the main town but it's an easy walk in. The only small problem is the kitchen is tiny so if you want to cook your own meals it can be a bit difficult with everyone in there st once.
It was my first visit to Salzburg and at first I thought the hostel is located at city center because the hostel name says so. But after all, It took me nearly half an hour to get to the city center..

Security EXCELENT. Location GOOD (there's LIDL supermarket just 2 blocks from hotel). Staff AVERAGE. Atmosphere can be good, it depends on which roommies you get in dorm or get acquainted with in common areas. Cleanliness EXCELENT. Value for money is FEAR, it can be cheaper booking through more time in advance. Facilities EXCELENT. I am happy with my first visit to Salzburg and I hope to return soon and to stay again in this hotel with hostel extra-service. Thanks for your kind attention :)
The property is a Hotel not a Hostel, there is 100% no atmosphere to this place at all. They also automatically take payment of your card before you arrive, when it clearing says on the Hostelworld email that you will be able to pay on arrival, basically payment was taking of a card i didn't want used for the payment. Not impressed with this. Also poor check in and very average staff, never really made feel welcomed at all. If your looking for a cheap hotel its nice. As a hostel its no good.
From the moment I checked in, the staff was great. This is a huge hostel/hotel so it's not the easiest to meet people if you're traveling solo. You have to pay extra for everything but I liked that you could use the computer (2 euro) and the laundry machine (5 euro) - very convenient. It's a 9-10 euro can ride from the train station and then you can take a bus into town. Not sure if I would stay there again but it was inexpensive and fine for what I needed. Also, no AC.
The walk to the hostel from the main station was quite long, but it was easy to find and there were buses too, so it was ok. There was no cow in our room although there was supposed to be. Our room was for four people, but the upper bunk made wasn't made (we had the sheets, but only 3 beds were made).
Clean, nice looking hostel, however lacked any atmosphere and there was not much going on there. Also felt that it was quite pricey considering there was nothing to do and wasn't exactly in the city centre (although it wasn't far and still easy to get to). At the end of the day it was a nice hostel, just not something for a solo 18yo traveller.
The hostel was nice overall and the staff were good at recommending things to do and helpful with which buses to use to get to the old town. However the dorm rooms didn't seem to be organised that well, there was no attempt to have people entering and leaving on similar days so it meant almost every party of people were spread throughout the dorm sharing bunk beds with strangers (who obviously didn't always speak the same language) and so it meant people had little personal space to relax.
Although it wasn't directly in the centre of was nice to be only twenty minute walk away from the city centre. You may have to bring your own hand towels as they weren't provided (bath towels are) but that was our only complaint. It was nice and quiet and our four bed dorm was was well laid out to accommodate our needs.
We were very pleased with the accommodations that Meininger of Salzburg. The desk attendants were very friendly and helpful. We asked a lot of questions and they were pleasant in answering our questions and pointing us in the right direction. We found the room to be exceptional as far as cleanliness, updated and efficient in the set up. Clearly, Meininger has attempted to think of everything you might need in your room and has tried to provide for those needs, within reason.
My friend and I enjoyed our stay at The Meninger Salzburg City Centre Hostel. It was very clean, there were nice facilities (well-equipped kitchen) and for the most part the staff was nice. The main downfall to staying at this hostel is that it is not right in Salzburg Old Town (about a 15-20 minute walk away), the train station is also quite a distance.
I was dissapointed the AC wasn't very good and you can barely open the windows. Ensuite shower and WC are great and super clean, like a hotel.
This hostel is more like a hotel. It's great and super comfortable! However it could be improved with lockers in the rooms.
Know what you're getting into - this is a chain hostel and it's family oriented. Not as bad as A&O, but still quite funky in that aspect. This means that if you are with a large group of friends or family, it's a great place to have lodging, but if you are a solo traveller, it is social death and not worth the cheapness. I chose this because it was the only thing left, but it was still quite nice. The staff was really helpful and nice, and the kitchen was useful as well for cooking food.
Easy to get too. Clean. Only negative thing was there was a big school group on our floor and they kept running up and down the corridors and shouting which was really annoying! No one did anything about it, to tell them to be more considerate of other people staying at the hostel.
Very clean and spacious rooms. The staff was friendly and welcoming.
Really liked staying here as it had a bit of a hotel feel about it in terms of the quality of the facilities whilst still maintaining that overall hostel feel. Staff were very helpful and happy to answer all of my questions about Salzburg and rooms were always cleaned to a high standard.
The air conditioning in the room didn't work and with 9 people in it a room it was veryyyy hot. I did enjoy the lounge/bar area and community kitchen. There was a nice hike just outside the building and a variety store which were useful!
