really nice hostel, clean rooms and ensuite inside rooms were super clean and nice. staff were okay but location was ut of city centre and only easy way to get there was by bus
A really great few nights at this hostel. The staff were incredibly helpful and spoke perfect English, which is always reassuring when you're travelling away from home. It is very close to a few supermarkets (and of course: McDonalds) but the city centre is quite a distance (buses are very frequent and cheap). They even showed the Sound of Music downstairs for all the guests, what a great way to end my travels.
It's a good place to stay for a few night when you're visiting Salzburg. The hostel is a bit far from the Old Town. It takes about 25 minutes of walking, but is not a big deal. The Meininger is more like a hotel, not really a hostel. Some normal hotelrooms are converted into dormrooms. It's a bit hard to meet other backpackers, because there is not a real hostel atmosphere. Rooms are very clean, towels are provided, beds are very confortable and the staff is really helpfull.
Good: Excellent breakfast with just 6.9 euro for all you can eat Atmosphere is perfect Staff is friendly Didn't expect that there would be hair dryer and shampoo Bad: You have to pay for your Internet service while I have been to some hostel which provides them for free. Distant location Should be more space for hanging the after-wash clothes
very clean rooms and facilities, price for breakfast was too expensive, staff were friendly
I've been traveling for two months now, so I've had my fair share of hostels. This hostel has to be the worst. The workers are horrible, they need to learn no manners. We pay to stay here, they don't need to treat us like pure shit. Couldn't even return an email or help us. Not worth your time or money. Do yourself a favour, don't stay here.
The hostel is really a hotel with shared rooms, so there wasn't much in ways of hostel atmosphere or shared areas. The kitchen is very small and can only really be used by one or two people at once. Rooms were big and very clean and the staff was very helpful with directions and information.
I stayed in a room for 9 persons. Our room was very big, clean and comfortable. Great plus is shower gel, soap and hairdryer for free. Staff was excellent and professional for helping with road trips put of Salzburg! Breakfast was overpriced for a standart choice, nothing special.
It's better if had lockers (which can be locked). Cupboards in the room cannot be locked .

The hostel was extremely expensive for what we got (just a normal hostel room) but it was the only room I could find two weeks in advance! The staff were really nice and helpful. The room was clean, though it didn't have very many outlets for charging.
As th every meninger, it's very lean with incredible facilities. City centre is misleading though as it's on the outskirts of town. However, great vibe and great staff make up or it.
Great hostel, more like a hotel. Met amazing people and enjoyed my time. Staff was very helpful. Would definitely return.
It is not located close to main train station and it is a bit far from the city centre. very hard to meet other travelers as it was filled with a lot of families.
I really enjoyed staying here! The daily cleaning services were my favorite part, since dorm mates can be messier/dirtier than I prefer. Just be prepared ahead of time that the title "City Center" does not mean that picturesque Old Town Salzburg will be right out your door. Instead, you'll have to take a bus or walk (about 20 minutes--I did this multiple times on my own and it was fine!).
Your staff was so helpful and friendly. They knew how to answer questions and give directions via bus and train. I was really impressed.

It was good. if you want to stay in good condition hostel, recommend. But you can not avoid the cost. a little bit expensive i think.
Really enjoyed the hostel! Super cheap grocery store just across the street and the walk into town wasn't bad at all. Salzburg was great!
This is clearly a hotel with some shared rooms. very nice ammenities.
My friend and I really enjoyed our stay at the Meininger Hostel in Salzberg. Although it's a big hostel, we found it to be very clean and modern with great facilities. The staff were lovely and helpful, which was a nice surprise - often in bigger chains the staff don't tend to be as passionate about their jobs. Overall, we were really impressed with our room (4 bed, female dorm) and it felt very safe and secure too.
Totally not worth the price to stay here. It is seriously like a hotel way out. It's a good 25 minute walk to anywhere worth seeing. Must take a bus to get there in the first place. Also. Zero in the way of activities done through the hostel. NO pub crawl, NO walking tour, NO way to meet ppl there. Terrible internet up on the floors. Only plus I can say is that the ac worked well and the bed was clean.
