if you're a backpacker and want to meet others - dont stay here. this was like a weird hotel with some dorm rooms thrown in - way too many children and families...that being said, the staff were helpful and kind, the WiFi worked perfect in room. Toilet and shower were separated in dorm room - less waiting. little far out from city centre but there is a bus stop across the street. also - the room I was in looked way better than the photo up there on hostelworld - my room was actually nice...
great hostel, just a bit of a walk from the old town.
The female at the front desk was very helpful. She let us park up front until we were able to check in as we arrived a bit early. No complaints about the rooms; clean and enough space for three people and our baggage. If you are looking for a place in the city center then perhaps this might not be the place for you. A bus or train ride is required to go to the main areas of Salzburg. The prices were fair and considering how cheap it was to get around Salzburg, I don't regret staying here.
A great hostel to stay in, nice rooms that were large and with excellent facilities. Wifi was pretty good for a hostel. Only downside was the proximity to the tourist features of the town, but easy enough to get to.
Location is a good half hr walk from the main station and a bit more from the old town. But the hostel is in the same building as a grocery store which is convenient. Great hostel! Clean rooms/bathrooms. Had a great time!
The common kitchen was little.

Very clean, great facilities. But don't stay here if you want to meet people, no atmosphere.
Like most people say, it's more like a hotel. I met some cool people but it didn't have the hostel feel which I would've enjoyed a little more. Nice and clean room and bathroom!
My stay at the Meininger was great, the facility itself was hotel like, very clean and comfortable. The bar area, pool table, and foosball table made it a fun place. Its about a 15-20 minute was to the old town area, which I enjoyed because I felt it allowed me to see more of the city. I'd stay here again!
When i booked this hostel, i tought it was going to be in the centre of the city but its not. Its pretty far, you have to take a bus every day that's its like 2.5 euros and it takes 20 minutes to get there. For the price, its quite expensive cause there's no breakfast, you have to pay if you want it. The people at the reception are not friendly at all, very rude, no information was given and no even an advice about the city. The room is really nice, very clean.
Modern and clean, beds with power points at each. Wouldn't call it the city centre, need a bus into town. Atmosphere was good when they played the sound of music but due to it being also a hotel there was families with kids.

Really lovely hotel so the room was super clean which was really nice. The only thing is that the name is quite deceiving - it's not in the centre at all! It took me and the other guys staying in the dorm about 2hrs each to find the place! Not much atmosphere but super clean and nice hotel vibe basically.
As a solo traveller it was hard to meet people in common areas nevertheless it was a comfortable stay. Perhaps too the Sound of Music could be played three times a week instead of two and then most people would be there on one of the nights should they wish to see it. I unfortunately missed seeing it due to this.
Great hostel. The rooms were huge and the lobby was pretty nice. Staff were friendly. It is a little out of the city centre though but the bus is fairly easy to catch.
It's not really a hostel, just a hotel with beds added to the rooms. I paid for a 9 bed and got a 4 bed which was great! Location is out of the way, but can't get affordable places in the city centre so it wasn't too bad and buses were close by and accessible. Wifi works in bedrooms as well as lobby area.
We stayed in a 6 bed dorm. It was a large room with good space. The wifi did reach to our room which was nice. This location was much more like a hotel than a hostel.
Location wasn't great. It was about a 20-25 minute walk to old town. Definitely more of a hotel vibe over a hostel vibe. Wifi was great, was able to FaceTime/Skype with family back home with no issues! They also had the sound of music playing in the lounge/bar area at night which was kind of nice.
good hostel but the location was not good and the public transport links we found to be infrequent and poor into the main city centre. also the breakfast could have had more choice and perhaps some hot food like sausages or eggs.
Really nice and spacious rooms with huge lockers and comfy beds. Not really good for single travellers though as it's more like a Hostel/ Hotel mix kind of thing and there were mostly families which made it much harder to meet other people. The kitchen is pretty small. The staff is friendly, but the location is a bit far from the City Center.
