great hostel jose is a champion !

Very friendly and helpful staff, great atmosphere, hot showers and delicious breakfast! The only flaw was the beds/pillows were not the most comfortable.

Had a bad experience with really unfriendly staff. Tried to overcharge us for our room until we double checked the price. Booked a private room that was dirty, no hot water as advertised. For a popular hostel, none of the staff spoke English so unless you speak Spanish, you can't communicate with them. Would not recommend.

Mama's home was perfect! We had a private room which was quite big, very clean, and with a nice bathroom. The courtyard is beautifully colourful, and a great place for breakfast or to have a drink in the night. Lots of travelers, and a great place to meet people! The best part would have to be the breakfast, which changes every morning- from pancakes, to french toast, to stuffed avocados! Mama is very funny and helpful. Would definitely stay there again!

The rooms are basic but what you pay for. Mama is nice and helpful, and the breakfast is really nice.. If you are staying in a double room the ones in the courtyard are a lot better than the two rooms out in the back...

TERRIBILE ESPERIENZA! SCONSIGLIO VIVAMENTE!

Nice hostel in the middle of Tulum. The rooms are really nice, and they serve good breakfast. Mamma is really nice and helpfull. Would definatdly reccomend this hostel.

Its an all ages hostel so we had kids running around yelling and generally just being annoying. Our room smelt pretty bad like a banos. The beds were terrible but the breakfast was great

The vibe of hostel dwellers wasn't particularly inviting while we were there. Good breakfast, hot showers, private rooms looked nice. Better value can be found in town, but a good starting place.

This hotel needs a good clean ants everywhere, and damp patches in rooms. The kitchen was small, in busy periods it would be hard to use and they use laundry powder as washing up liquid?!The rooms are cleaned daily and staff are nice and tried to speak english, but the toilets had hardly / no toilet paper no soap and some toilets missing seats! Its ok for 1-2 nights max as cheap but not for longstays. Mama's breakfast is amazing though and very filling, she is a lovely lady.

Security: The front door security is good. However, there were not enough lockers to go around! Staff: "Mama" was very on and off. Sometimes she would be nice but she could be very rude and unwelcoming. She tried to make my friends and I leave because she claimed we hadn't booked when we had. We saw this happen to many, many people during our stay there Atmosphere was great only because of the people we met Value for money: Well they have a good breakfast, beds are fine but terrible vibes

The chairs in the common area were horribly uncomfortable! But that was okay, why I wouldn't go back was because of Mama. The lady who ran the house was very unwelcoming, she overbooked the rooms when we were there. Which lead to her kicking people out of their rooms that they head already payed for, claiming they were drunks and not welcome there. Very overpriced for what you get, we moved to the strip in Tulum and pay half for the same thing!

I loved Mama's Home, especially Mama! I checked in for only 1 night, but I wound up staying 4 nights! The breakfast was always good and came fast, plus the coffee was good and plentiful. Mama runs a tight ship, and all of her guests adore her. This is a very fun place to stay, close to everything, with an extremely friendly and helpful staff.

The included breakfasts are delicious and change every day. Unlike other hostels in Tulum, you need to hire a bicycle as they're not available at the hostel. Considering you are staying in the town and not at the beach, that's an extra cost. We ended up walking to the ruins/beach and getting a taxi back. Wifi worked in our private room, but some people said it didn't work in theirs. I had a one hour job interview on Skype and the wifi was great - and I got the job!! I'd stay here again.

Great breakfast included. Not so easy to meet others here if you are traveling alone. The staff didn't speak that good english.

I really liked this hostel as the staff were very friendly and they provided a great breakfast as well. Cinthia is a character and speaks great English. The dorms are comfortable and secure and air-conditioned. There's a basic kitchen for guest use and two computers for free internet surfing as well. The courtyard at the front of the hostel is a good place to chill with a beer. The hostel is close to Tulum high street where the bars, restaurants are etc. Highly recommended.
