the rooms are not as clear as expected, and the lady in the reception desk was very unfriendly and unhelpful.

If you don't speak a good english, the reception will laugh... You can't use the kitchen and you can't use the wifi in the rooms... For me, only the breakfast was nice...

Decent location and there wasn't anything wrong with the facilities. The doors to the shower didn't close all the way which made it hard to shower without getting the whole floor wet. Breakfast was tasty and always hot and fresh which was good. The room was very spacious as well. All in all a good place to stay nothing spectacular but also fairly quiet and well maintained.

The guesthouse is perfectly situated and you get good value for your money. The breakfast which is included in the price, is very good. A perfect choice for city sightseeing!

Had some lovely encounters with staff at reception. Definitely not a hostel, it's a guest house, don't expect atmosphere like you would in a hostel.. but then again that's one of the reasons we chose it. Overall quite happy with our overnight stay there, decent cooked breakfast provided for free. One street away from amazing restaurants and bars, 5-10 minutes to city centre.

We stayed here in April when it was still quite chilly outside. The room the staff put us in was freezing and did not have a working radiator. After complaining and asking for them to look at the radiator, to be moved to a new room, or any other option available, the staff did not seem bothered and did not do anything about it. The second night we stayed, they agreed to move us to another room but only after a lot of pestering.

My room was really nice but the hotel was really far out of the way. The staff was generally friendly except for the old man who I guess was the night porter. He seemed really crabby every time he was working. If you need a cab, the receptionist calls it up for you, which is really great. The WiFi here was horrible and only available in the dining room. The breakfast was good, but they desperately need to extend the hours. My room was freezing cold, even though it was turned all the way up.

The stay was fine except that the window in the room was very draughty. I ended up leaving the radiator on at least number 2 all the time to maintain some kind of room temperature to combat the draughty window and I don't really get that cold usually. Even though I asked for a single room I was given a double bed (which was a plus point) but I ended up sleeping on the radiator side of it because of the noticeable draught coming from the window.

We had a great weekend in Glasgow at the end of February and McLays was a great place to stay. Really central with friendly staff and the room was a great size. A bit noisy at night due to late night clubs nearby but nothing that kept us awake. Would recommend it to others heading for a weekend away.
