We loved this place! The atmosphere was fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly and very helpful and the decor and layout made it feel like home. We were only there for one night at the start of the trip and one at the end but both were great. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you are coming through guilin!

Excellent hostel. Well located, Staff is great. They indeed went to the street to help me take a cab to the airport at 6 am. Recommend it to everybody who wants to stay in Guilin!

Stayed for one night and the friendly staff arranged a bus for me to go to Yangshuo the next morning. Only issue I have is; the hotel was cold, as was my bedroom. It was January but I had a bad night sleep because of the cold. Any other time of year I'm sure it would have been ok.

A wonderfull place, huge, well run and friendly. But please be advised that the common room has no heating, so if you were planning to hang around, this might not be the place for you in winter.

I stayed with a friend in a private double deluxe and couldn't have been more satisfied. Great big, clean room with hot shower. No boiler, so if you like taking a long shower that's no problem. Furthernore the staff was very helpful and easy to get along with. In the hostel paintings are displayed. This gives the hostel a nice ambiance and, if you're inrested, you can have a look in the gallery run by the owners of the hostel. If you're staying in guilin i can highly recommend ming palace! Roel

The only thing worth complaining about in this hostel was that the common area was very cold during my stay. Other than that, I really liked the atmosphere of this place. Especially the staff was super nice and friendly!

great place to stay in the shadow of the Ming Palace, very close to the Li Jiang (River), the Mall and the Shan Lake. The staff were fantastic, friendly, helpful and treated all their guests like friends. Thanks to Betty, Yin Hao (helped organise passport photos) and the guy (forgot his name) that worked the cafe and bar. Staff and owners organised activities (dumpling making and board games), tours and even the Christmas eve hotpot part. Clean warm rooms and really good linen on the beds.

Very nice hostel being not too far off the center but far enough to be in a quiet neighbourhood. A handy supermarket is just across the street. The staff was friendly and helpful, their English was sufficient. We stayed in a very clean 2 bed room with TV (if you understand enough Mandarin for that) and waterboiler (instant noodles again ;-). We also joined an organised li river cruise offered by the hostel which was fine.

This was the first time that I stayed at a hostel! The Ming Palace was highly recommended to me by a friend that had stayed there last year. His feelings for the place was high and I found it to be as he said. The staff was very helpful, the room was very clean and comfortable, the food was very good for a hostel but could use more western choices.. I know that it is diffacult to find a Chinese cook that can cook western food but it wqs close to what I like! I will be back!

Ordering food is painful for the waiters' slowness. About 30-45 minutes to wait for a simple breakfast! (we were just 3-5 people, no one else was there) It's unbelievable. Even ordering a simple glass of milk is several minutes of wait, it doesn't take 15 minutes to pour a glass of milk, especially when there's no one else to keep the waiter busy!

Arabica coffee beans. Grinded into freshly brewed coffee. What else can I say? Great location. Lovely staff. Spacious. Single room I stayed in was good value for money but could use some upgrading. One of the best, if not the best hostel in China.
