The main advantage of this youth hostel is the staff. Really friendly !

This hostel was in a great location with friendly staff. We did have a few problems though- the light in our room was broken and was not fixed or even looked at while we stayed there even though we told the person at the front desk and she said she would send someone up. Also, for part of the time there was no hot water in our room or the showers at the end of the hallway (and it was winter). It was quite cheap though, the cheapest in Nanjing, so perhaps these things even out.

There were renovations going in while we stayed there, but they didn't really bother me. One thing that bothered us was that we had to get the key card to the room activated every day. It's a bit annoying to have to go to the front desk every time to be able to enter your room again. Maybe the hostel could change this policy and just give you a key card activated for the amount of days you'll be staying.

Great place owned by a family with amazing staff!! One day I ordered a coffee and the staff figured out that they were out and they made every possible effort to still get my black gold!! It took them an hour but they managed, talking about persistence!! However, it's true that it isn't that clean but the beds are comfy so it didn't bother me that much and had a great time in Nanjing :).

I feel bad not giving more points for these things. It is a really nice place and everything would be great except two really, really important things. Its just so stupid not to fix them. I would give 100 percent because i loved the place and many of the people. 1). Showers. If its almost 0 degrees outside, i want a nice shower. Its ridiculous not to have hot water. 6 days, no hot water. 2) if someone says there is never hot water, have a good excuse or do something about it. Why????

comfortable bed. but dorm was dark as no natural light and overhead light was broken. each dorm has 1 shared bathroom, with nice hot shower (once you've worked it out!). hostel is small and mostly chinese backpackers. ok location, would be better if it was close to a metro.

The staff was very helpful. I arrived very late but they still give me full instruction and the room was nice. This place is very close to Fuzimiao and in the middle of the shopping area.

The room was freezing, all windows were open when I went into the room. I had to ask for toilet paper and towels -- as everyone needs these, why are they not in the room in the first place?

The hostel was being renovated at the time, so I understand that not everything is ready yet but dorm rooms not finished. Not all of the staff can speak English, which isn't necessary but can make things a bit harder if you are a westerner. A couple of times I stood at reception for 5 minutes without being seen to, once I waited and a Chinese man walked up and the staff at reception served him straight away even though it was obvious I was waiting. No map of Nanjing available and no tour info.

The only good thing about this hostel was the location. Everything else was less than average: the hostel was still under reformation, hence very dirty (including private room and bathroom), no internet in the room, only in the lobby, and staff quite unhelpful. I would not recommend this hostel.

Hostel is under renovation, but was a good value. My only real complaint is that the hostel allows smoking in the lobby and it seems that everyone in there was, in fact, smoking. The hostel staff were very friendly and bent over backwards to be helpful, lending maps, chatting, and even one of them lent me her bike. The location is good. The two changes I'd make (after the renovations are finished) are 1) NO smoking in lobby, and 2) put lockers in the rooms. Great location!

Nice bar area but don't expect too much help from the staff -fine for a night or two but no atmosphere or social feel to the hostel at all. However fastest wifi of the trip so far!

Nice hostel on a great place near the river. It only looked like it was under reconstruction.

I stayed in a dorm, my parents in a pte double. Ensuite toilet was clogged and had shit floating in the bowl. We requested a change of rooms but had to pay 20yuan more per night for a pte twin. The original room had a tv but the new one didn't. The emergency fire exit was blocked, dangerous. My dorm mates all complained that their sheets were dirty and not changed. Beds not assigned properly. No individual lockers. Staff were nice enough but count your change carefully, as in all parts of China.

The location and setting of this place rightn on the canal is perfect. The atmosphere is very relaxed and we loved having a nice imported beer on the deck. We will definitely stay here again, next time post completed reconstruction.

Location is perfect, I can eat as soon as I get out of the hostel. But I'm not satisfied about changing my double bed room to an one big bed room.

The hostel has a great location, but it was pretty disgusting. this is not due to the renovation, which i hardly noticed. I stayed one night in a private double room for 180 yuan, which was overpriced and it was more dirty than the 40 yuan dorm room. the three nights i stayed there, no one ever cleaned the bathroom of the dorm room. you'll only get towels, clean sheets, and shower slippers if you ask the girl downstairs. otherwise, you're on your own. the staff was friendly and pretty helpful.

I thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The hostel has a wonderful feel to it and the staff are really nice and social. The nearest major tourist attraction is Confucius Temple. It can be hard to find streets in Nanjing!

The hostel was still undergoing renovations when i stayed, which was not clearly noted, hence the lower cleanliness rating. Once the renovation is complete, the hostel holds a lot of promise and will be really nice.
